511 004 Single-Hole Pencil Tub Sharpener in Noris Design (Pack of 1)

I know, a bit weird reviewing a pencil sharpener! Go figure eh? Well, This is the second Stadtler Noris Design Tub Sharpener. It isn't the second because there was anything wrong with it. No, my son sneaked it into his pencil case for school and I was without my precious sharpener that I was given as a free gift in my goody bag at a the Education Show a few years ago. I used to keep it in my desk at school so that there was always a sharpener for pupils to borrow. I loved this sharpener because it always produced beautiful on 'point' results! The amount of times that it was used working in an education environment did not affect its performance. I am moving on to a new school in September and have decided to replace my beloved stationary gadget! The product comes in three parts, the barrel, sharpening unit top and a handy little flap. The barrel itself is quite large and holds a lot of sharpenings before discarding in the bin. When you do decide to empty, the sharpening top lifts off easily as there is a handy button on the sharpening top to loosen the two parts away from each other. They can be lifted away without using the button, but the effort required is far less if using the release mechanism. The sharpening tool, although only accepting standard size pencils, produces perfectly pointed pencils every time. (bit of alliteration from a teacher! LOL) Although not necessary for older children, the addition of the clear plastic flap on top will prevent those with the smallest fingers from probing inside the sharpener and possible causing harm to themselves. So not only a great sharpener, but cracking safety features as well. All in all, a super product, so would definitely recommend! Please let me know if my review has been helpful. I recently purchased the pencil sharpener after my old one broke on me, and I must say, it has become an essential tool in my artistic journey. This sharpener is simple, effective, and does its job exceptionally well. One of the highlights of this pencil sharpener is its versatility. It works perfectly with both regular HB pencils and even my expensive colored pencils. I was initially hesitant to use it with my colored pencils, but it proved itself trustworthy and gentle on them, providing sharpening without any breakage. While I appreciate the sharpener's functionality, there is one minor drawback I noticed - it's not the most comfortable to hold for extended periods. The shape of the sharpener, although aesthetically pleasing, might not be the best fit for everyone's hands. However, I must admit that this issue could be subjective and might vary from person to person. Having said that, the overall performance and reliability of this pencil sharpener have led me to repurchase it without hesitation. It has become an integral part of my creative process, ensuring my pencils are always ready. In conclusion, pencil sharpener is an excellent addition to any artist's toolkit. Its versatility, performance, and trustworthiness with expensive colored pencils make it a reliable companion for artists of all levels.

This is a very good sharpener, and does the job well. The only slight complaint is the hinged 'flap-up' lid is not as robust as it could be. Of the two of these that I ordered, one has the little notches worn away so it doesn't stay closed - a problem for a lazy child who doesn't empty the sharpenings very often as some slip out into the pencil case. The other one, the flap has cracked at the hinge but can still be clipped back into place. I have still ordered another of these as the sharpener itself is so much better than any of the others I've bought for the children to use as it sharpens without breaking the points, and is a sharp enough blade that it does not chew up the wood on the pencils.

I was becoming really frustrated after years of never finding the right pencil sharpener!! I'd had cheap generic ones, ones that I'd assumed were good quality bought from well known stationary shops, medium quality ones, and colourful novelty ones but overall they all never really seemed to do the job properly! I'd lost count of the amount of subsequent broken pencils, or the under par sharpened ones that wouldn't last five minutes when using them! That was until I was gifted a packet of Staedtler HB yellow and black pencils in a recent birthday retro gift box from a friend as a nod to the pencils we used back in junior school, however the sharpener my friend included in the gift box was... You guessed it a novelty one that I knew would be a letdown as soon as I looked at it. When I came round to opening the packet of Staedtler's I knew I wanted a good quality pencil sharpener so I didn't ruin them and so I could get a good amount of usage time from them. A quick search on Amazon and I discovered the yellow/black one and all I can say is WOWSERS!! Why did I not buy one of these much sooner I could have saved myself so many frustration induced art sessions!! I will never use another brand's pencil sharpener ever again now I have discovered this one it is truly the Rolls Royce of sharpeners! • Excellent quality • Durable when you're sharpening • Easy to use • No mess caused (convenient collection pot) • Value for money

Love this item. I have colour pencils but was finding it difficult to get the absolute pin sharpness I wanted to get into small areas and this gets me that pin sharpness precisely and keeps all the shards and shavings contained neatly so there’s no mess (would be great for on the go where you don’t want to cause a mess if you sketch outdoors etc). The blade is very sharp and there’s no resistance - barely takes any hand strength to turn the pencil. It’s easily the best sharpener I’ve had and it’s well worth the money! Edit : after just a few months of occasional use I’ve found that it’s now chewing up my pencils and yanking chunks of the wood from the graphite, making my soft pencils very vulnerable to breakage. Disappointed as it was great initially.

So I was sceptical to purchase seeing soo many sharpener options. Its a very small thing/ article, however if someone who is a designer/ Artist would understand that a sharpen plays a very important role when you do not want to waste your very expensive pencil colors / sketching graphics. So The company is ofcourse trusted and they have deleted an original product. The blade even gave name engraved. I believe its a value for money for any artist who has invested in good pencils and colors. Yes we generally use cutter as an artist, however some times you need that sharp point and it gives the same. The Quality is a steardy material and easy to use. The bin comes handy as i do not like the clutter on my table. I really coudnt not understand the difference of sharpen points between both the blade angles. May be it only surves the purpose for thin and wide pencils. All in all, good product.

Good product I bought them for my kids for school. Overall very happy with this sharpener.

Produit conforme et pas cher. Excellent taille-crayon pour un petit prix (actuellement 2.89€). Fonctionne parfaitement avec les crayons de ses couleurs (Crayon Noris Steadtler). Je n'est pour le moment pas de soucis de qualité de taille. Ouverture simple et facile. Capuchon pratique pour le transport dans une trousse ou boite à outil.
