It will clean the copper off of a punch or a brush, but there may be other products that work better on a exterior application. There are powders for cleaning copper pots and pans that might be worth trying first. **Q: Does anybody know if this is an ammonia free cooper remover?** A: The bottle I opened and used today had a strong odor of ammonia. Ammonia is not listed as one of the ingredients, but I'm certain it contains ammonia. It did however, work well at removing the copper fowling in the barrel of my FNS-9C. I simply soaked a patch, ran it through the barrel, followed by a nylon brush, and finished with about 3 clean dry patches. A second application was not necessary. I finished cleaning my barrel with Break-Free CLP, to remove the remainder of the carbon fouling. **Q: Will this remove the green markings from inside my gun barrel? I believe the green is cooper if I'm not mistaken** A: If it is copper (which does turn green) I'm sure it will clean it out. Use a swab to apply and let it soak for a while then use a brush then many patches. Repeat until clean. **Q: Can you use With bore snake** A: If it does contain ammonia, mixing cleaners/solvents/or any other chemicals on the bore snake “may” create a caustic/corrosive condition leading to bore damage. I have found while breaking in competition ELR barrels, I use a stiff nylon brush of the same bore diameter, another nylon brush of one caliber smaller, and a mop to apply, scrub, and remove copper remover. I use Bore Tech CU ++ with stellar results. And the bore snake has bronze bristles on it which get damaged by a quality copper remover.
