A volt amp or VA is 1 amp at 1 volt so 1 amp at 24 volts would be 24 volt amps. So the common 40VA transformer = 40VA/ 24V = 1.67 Amps. And a 75 VA transformer = 75VA/24V = 3.125 amps. The transformer should draw less than 1 amp at 120V input and the output at 24 volts can provide as much as 3.125 amps if the load requires it. You can search for a volt amp calculator to verify my answers if you wish. **Q: Where is the ground? Also, which of the two black/Yelow wires go to the postive 24v and which to the negative** A: The transformer gets grounded by the mounting base and this is an AC output, so there is no polarity, **Q: Security panel on 2nd floor - display bad - characters randomly display. Current 40va transformer in basement. Would 75ma fix this problem?** A: Maybe, maybe not. Have you measured the supply voltage at your security panel with the problem? **Q: is this UL approved and if so can i get documentation that it is. I may buy alot of them?** A: It sure is. If you check the Functional Devices website, you'll see the UL. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are troubleshooting a transformer, get this *by on Reviewed in the United States 30 April 2021* I had a wire short in my furnace wiring caused by a hot wire rubbing on a black iron pipe. I blew several fuses and two transfers ended up burning up.For a few more dollars, I thought I'd give this transformer a try since it has a circuit breaker and it seems more convenient to reset with a button. Even though my fuses were blowing, it didn't protect my original transformer from burning up.I would highly recommend this transformer if you are troubleshooting your wiring.
