Heavy duty can crusher
I was a little nervous about ordering this item because of the reviews but I wanted to reduce the bulk that cans can create so that they could be collected for recycling. I have used this item for crushing lightweight lager cans on a daily basis since 29th January 2009 (6 weeks) and find it an excellent device. You do need to attach it to a strong surface though. I do not think the handle is flimsy as previously suggested.

Complete waste of money !!!! Rubbish !!!! Avoid !!!!
Incredibly poor build quality. I put this on the wall less than 2 weeks ago and itโs broken already. Average daily use was about 5 or 6 cans a day, mostly coke cans. Needed greasing with butter on the third day as it kept getting stuck. The arms on the handle bent within the first week, they need to be made of a thicker, stronger metal. They werenโt much stronger than the cans that they were meant to be crushing. The rivets were already loose too and they snapped today. Also needs a rubber mat on the bottom plate because the cans fly off as you depress the handle. I might buy another ( but definitely a different make or manufacturer ) as itโs a good idea and saved on the bin bags. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for a better quality product.

CRUSHED
Have done dozens of cans and it works well, but you do need to just push in the side of the can slightly to make it an easy job. Not as substantial as I was hoping, but works OK

Major crush
Quite boring really , we live in Cyprus and sent for two can crushers (we were unable to order the wall mounted bottle opener for some reason which we would still like to purchase) We are delighted with the can crushers (not a lot of recycling here) they reduce are rubbish somewaht but perhaps more importantly they are a big talking point for our barbeque guests (of all ages) Think you you may be getting more orders. Big plus was that you sent them here to us so quickly straight to the door, wonder why you couldnt send the wall mounted bottleopeners. Never mind the Can Crushers are a big hit Many thanks

Requires a better handle fixing
The item crushes cans as it should. My only critiscism is the lack of studiness in the handle. The rivet heads that hold the rubber handle in place are too small and after crushing aprox 15 cans it came apart. Now I am quite handy so will be able to fix it by putting a bolt in place of handle spindle but this is an item that needs improvement.

Grease !!!!!
I don't no how an elderly person is supposed to use this asit's difficult for me ! Very hard to retract as held together with very lose rivits that make it jam everytime you go down or up ! Very difficult indeed. I was sending it back but I thourt I would see what could be done about it,so I got some grease out of the garage (man cave ) and greased up the runners at the back and it's now working 90% better than when I received it !!! So that's the answer Grease ! Now my mom can use this fine without me having to do all the cans that she has got for me to do !!

Needs to be wall mounted
If you Don't have room in your recycling bins. This reduces cans to a 5th of their size.

which presumably makes it less sturdy than the one pictured (which has a solid "striking" ...
I fixed this can crusher to the wall and it worked reasonably well for about 30 cans, then the top "striking" plate (the one that is pulled down and does the crushing) started to bend where it's connected to the handle. This has bent more and more is now almost unusable after crushing only about 80-100 (mainly Coke) cans - see the attached photo. It is also not as per the picture, since the top "striking" plate has a large hole in it, which presumably makes it less sturdy than the one pictured (which has a solid "striking" plate). I should have read some of these reviews before shelling out some of my hard-earned on it. The benefit has been that the volume of our recycling has gone down, so I I'll be buying another (but a different make and/or design), but I'll be left with the (minor) inconvenience of having to fill in the screw holes in the wall from this blasted thing! ...and of course I don't have any paint of the right colour to touch things up afterwards! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
