Don't hesitate - just buy it!
I have had a very basic epilator for about five years. I only used it to do my legs as it was too painful to do under my arms with the old one. The results on my legs weren't very good at all, so I was looking to upgrade. I felt this one, and others like it, were very expensive for what they are (I didn't really know how much a good epilator would cost!)so I hesitated a lot before buying it. Don't hesitate - I love this whole package. The main epilator is great. The ceramic "teeth" produce very good results and seem to minimize the pain. I know my legs are "hardened" by being epilated before, but I have now gritted my teeth and done my underarms and bikini line and I can confirm it doesn't hurt that much. I use the attachment which stretches your skin the most. The light is a good addition. Love the ergonomic shape. The small epilator is great for doing my bikini line and round the tops of my legs where the the large one wouldn't have reached. If anything could make it better it would be if it was a true smaller version of the large one ie ceremic teeth and rechargable. But, it is a good addition as it stands. The tweezers which light up are also good. To conclude you won't regret buying this.

Good, but not that good
Allured by the many heads, the tweetzers and the small epilator, I decide to spend more money that usual and go for the Philips HP6578. However, not everything that shines is gold. The many heads are attarctive and promise a pain free epilating expirience. When you try them, the experience is indeed free from pain but the epilating results are far from great. unfortunatly, unless more than half a centimetre long, the hair is not taken off from root but just cut. And this is only achievable of you take off the head of the epilator. With any of them, you will just be able to take off the longer hair. However not everything is lost. The good thing about this set is the small epilator that works perfectly is bikini area as well as on your face, if you are reckless enough to try it there as I was. In all the product is good, but not that good.

The mini travel version is great!
After battery problems with my rechargeable Braun silk-epil (I'm not the only one) I went for this Philips set as I have many hair removal needs! Firstly, the tweezers are the best I've ever used - and the light is a bonus. I tried the main epilator on my underarms first... ouch! Much more painful than my Braun, but maybe that's because it really does pull out the hairs, not just break them off. I epilated after a bath and it left my underarms raw - I would advise cooling the skin and using talc rather than using on moist underarms, as it seemed to stick and pull. However, it was really comfortable to use on my bikini line, although a bit large to get any precision. I find the battery operated mini epilator BRILLIANT - weirdly, it is MUCH more efficient at removing the hairs than the main epilator. It is less painful, and so handy for using on holiday. It has been perfect for my underarms, chin, neck and chest, but the downside is it takes longer to cover a larger area (legs). I don't know what they did differently between the large and the small epilator, but I wish they'd just enlarged the travel version! The cost was just about worth it for the set, but knowing what I do now I might try another battery operated epilator.

Fantastic product!
I am so impressed with my new set! It is so painless I hardly feel it and the extra twisers were a nice little present. I was also quite lucky as I bought it while on special offer for £80.00. It is the perfect set for experienced epilatory users. If I had to say anything negative it would be the noise: yes, it does sound like a lawn mower! :) I read the feedbacks before choosing my new epilator (my old one no longer held its charge) and I chose this one as I understood that the good feedback was from regular users and the bad feedback was from new users. I hope I can offer some advice to new users. if you have been shaving for years then you must understand that your hair has becomed strong and thick. I believe this will be the main reason why you are in a lot more pain than others and why it leaves your legs quite red and sore. If you want to move to epilatory instead of shaving I think that you stop shaving altogether as I believe they counteract each other: Try to get your legs waxed first for several months as you need to weaken the hairs (not sure if depilatory cream weakens hairs or not but it may be worth a try as well as it is painless). As your hairs get thinner with time then it will hurt less. Then you may want to try the epilatory way. You must also let your body get used to the pain as you cannot kid yourself: it is pulling hairs from your skin! It was hurting a bit when I started but it doesn't anymore. I found that the first couple of seconds are the worst and then your body knows what's coming and it's fine. Watch out for in-grown hairs but just a little exfoliating now and again should do the trick. Final point: some people get on with epilatory systems and some don't. If you are not sure, check with waxing strips first to see how you cope with the pain. Maybe it's just not for you. I hope this info will be of assistance.

GOOD BUT MISSING THE TWEEZERS AND MIRROR!!!
I was so excited to use my new epilator for the first time! Ripped the box open and started multiple leg tweezing as soon as it was charged... After the adrenaline had started to subside I started to look at the other bits that came with - but to no avail could I locate the tweezers and mirror that were listed as items in the box - M.I.A!!!! No tweezed eyebrows for me then... After paying rather quite a lot money for this product feel a bit ripped off that it didn't include everything it promised...

My Experience So Far....
This is the first time I have ever used an Epilator. I am surprised by all the good reviews for it so far, especially ones that say it's not as painful as other epilators they've tried. Cause wow, they must have been excruciating. So far I have found this very painful and a slow slow process. I'm having to run over the same spot many times to get maximum hair removal so I fear it will take a long long time. The box itself was impressive with all the extra heads (still working out what they're all for) and the smaller epilator for under arms etc. Plus some nice tweezers (with a wee torch on them!). Another good point about them is that they can be charged and used cordless, making it easy to move about. I will push on with them though and edit my review when I've had more experience with them. So far though... OW. Not for those with lower pain thresh holds (which I didn't think I was, covered in piercings, but apparently this is a different kind of pain). Perhaps, I'm hoping, I'll get used to it. It also claims to have long lasting effects so after a few days I'll let you know.

Phillips are the best !!!
A few years ago I bought a Braun silk epil. It was good for a couple of years then the small head started to grind and grunt and not work properly, so I bought a newer version by Braun. This new one had good reports but when I tried it I nearly hit the ceiling !!!! They say to use a certain head to make the process less painful.............. yeh right ....... it hurt like hell and certainly a lot more painful than the older version I had been using. I then bought this Phillips HP6578 and WOW this is so good I cannot believe it. I don't know how Phillips have created this epilator but my God it is so much less painful than the others I have used. The bigger head is fantastic, gets all the hairs and really does not hurt at all. The small epilator is amazing. I choose to epilate 'Brazillian', using the other ones I could not tolerate the pain, so I gave up........ this little Phillips one is so much kinder. OK so it does hurt a bit and you have to be careful but it does the job relatively pain free in comparison. It is also excellent for the few hairs on the upper lip. The under arm hairs came out without any pain what-so-ever. The rechargeable system is great and the smaller epilator which uses batteries has so much ooomph it's unbelievable. When this new epilator finally dies, as I am sure it will one day, I will only ever buy another Phillips. Well done......... xx
