I got this stone a while back now and after using it on two different axes and a hatchet I would be happy to recommend it to anyone that's wanting a simple stone to sharpen up a little on the job. Being puck shape it fits nicely in the palm and therefore does not present a problem when using with slimy wet hands etc. Both sides of the stone offer a fairly standard grit choice and if your looking to have a shaving sharp edge then you will need a second stone much finer than this offers along with a decent belt for stropping. If your just after a good sharp edge to your axe this will do the job fine. Being puck shape, it also takes little room in your pocket or pack, is less likely to crack than the traditional block or cigar shape and it is quite intuitive keeping an even pitch using a circular motion. My top tip would be to get hold of a pipe tobacco tin of the circular kind to store the puck in. I found a "Dunbar original, ready rubbed" tin fits perfectly but I'm sure there are lots of other brand tins that would also fit well, you just need to take up pipe smoking and experiment lol. It gets five stars from me as it's not expensive, it does what is required of it, its not heavy or bulky and it's easy to use. Ultimately the test is, would I buy another if I lost this one? And the answer is,Yes.

I have amended my original review from 1 star which I originally gave because the product was not delivered on time and as a result was unable to give a review of the product. Now it has arrived. It came from the USA and seems to have been held up in customs. Anyway I now have the grit sharpener in my hands. I haven't had the time yet to use it and probably wont get the time for a couple more weeks. It looks substantial and I see no reason to think it wont perform. I would give it 5 stars but as I said I haven't used it yet.

Works well bit confusing as YouTuber soaks it in watering clean mine with gt85 Which seems ok Takes some getting used to but is effective and sharpens damaged blade easily Would recommend getting a pouch to keep it safe and a flattening stone

Great product! After some time spent on researching I got tjos stone. I have just sharpened my brand new Fiskars x7. When it originally arrived, the axe, I noticed that is is not that sharp. I spent some time today sharpening it with the stone, and after that I was able to slice onion at 1mm thick slices. I recommend.

I have used this stone for keeping an edge on my small wood splitting axe. Works well, and is a comfortable shape to hold. It is quite coarse in comparison to other pucks I have used, but is perfectly useable for an an axe. Priced at the lower end of the scale of sharpening stones I think it provides good value for money

Bought the Lansky puck to keep a good edge on an axe and garden tools. It has been in the toolbox of gardeners and anyone who needs to keep a keen edge on tools and will last a long time. Probably outlast me. I use it with Lansky honing oil and it keeps a good edge on the axe starting with the rougher darker side and finishing with the lighter finer side. To get a really keen edge takes patience. I bought a cheap axe for general work that came blunt. It took a little while to achieve a good edge, but there was something therapeutic about the whole process. Once you have an edge just a few strokes each time a tool is used will keep it up to the mark.

Tried using an old wet stone to sharpen a new axe. Never really understood what the phrase "having an axe to grind" meant before ! If you don't get the grinding angle absolutely spot on, and the stone properly lubricated, you will end up with a blunt axe head, sore shoulder and generally frustrated. The Lansky Dual Grit Sharpener takes the strain out of sharpening any axe head (particularly if you use in conjunction with Lansky's honing oil), as the grinding angle can be easily maintained and adjusted if necessary. The dual grit is useful if you are trying to restore a really badly "dinged" or rusted axe head, but the finer grit is all you will need to bring out a razor sharp edge to any new axe head. It is also handy size to keep in my tool bag and not as brittle, fragile or cumbersome to carry around as a wet stone. I have used it to grind brand new axe heads and just to re-condition the axe after use. Wouldn't be without it.

Super Schleifstein. Sehr praktisch um mal schnell die Axt, das Beil oder auch das Messer unterwegs nachzuschärfen. Durch seine geringe Größe (Handtellergröße) passt er super in ein EDC- oder Daypack. Für ganz feines Schleifen ist er natürlich nicht so super geeignet, auch aufgrund seiner immer noch recht groben "feinen" Körnung. Wer sein Messer oder seine Axt, sein Beil "rasiermesserscharf" haben möchte sollte zu einem DC4 Schleifstein greifen und zum guten alten Lederstreifen. Wer einfach sein Werkezueg scharf haben möchte oder mal eine Scharte aus einer Klinge herausarbeiten will unterwegs, für den ist der Lansky Puck eindeutig die richtige Wahl. Für Outdoor-Fans ein unverzichtbares Muss.

Habia visto varios videos en Youtube sobre esta piedra, es un poco mas pequeña de lo que esperaba. Pero vale la pena cada centavo (la compre a $112), desbasta mas que las que vende truper y urrea (solo las Austromex estan a su altura). Se acomoda a tu mano y lo mejor que no tiene un desgaste disparejo en comparacion con las rectangulares, la puedes guardar en la mochila o en la caja de heramientas, sin tener miedo a que se rompa. Solo que debes usar aceite (ligero como el 3 en 1 o el singer) o queroseno para lubricar la piedra, porque absorbe el agua facilmente (es muy poroso el material). La recomiendo mucho para un scout o jardinero, ya que afila las hachas y machetes e incluso las tijeras muy rapido. NOTA: USA GUANTES DE CUERO Y SER MUY CUIDADOSO CON TUS DEDOS PORQUE FACILMENTE PUEDES PASAR TU DEDO POR EL FILO DE LA HEREMIENTA, USA MOVIMIENTOS CIRCULARES AL AFILAR.

As duas faces são mais agressivas do que eu desejava. Comprei apesar de não haver especificações da descrição do produto, então, decidi correr o risco de não ficar satisfeito. E, honestamente, não fiquei! Se você deseja apenas afiar e não se importa que ambas as faces sejam bem abrasivas, esta é uma boa opção para você. Porém, se sua ideia for a de, além de afiar, também polir o fio de sua faca, machado ou ferramenta, melhor buscar outra opção/modelo.

Good product but slightly heavy to carry in the field, I wish they made something a bit smaller.
