Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics Core and Extended Coursebook with CD-ROM (Cambridge International IGCSE)

Great for iGCSE revision

I bought this book for myself to revise to my upcoming IGCSE extended Maths exam. I must say that overall it's a really good book, it has many useful tips and explains each topic very well.However, there are many mistakes in the book. I am in the middle of Unit 2 out of 6 and I have already spotted several mistakes in either the examples they provide to explain each chapter, or in the answers to the exercises. For someone like me who studies on their own it can be misleading and problematic (Maths is not my strong point and such mistakes confuse me!)I don't think the contents of this book have been proof- read and corrected. Looks like the zuthors were rushing to print the final version a bit too much!

I'd like to echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer. I'm also using the book to prepare for an upcoming IGCSE exam and the book is well structured, clearly presented with hundreds of questions to try answering.However there are a number of errors in the answers at the end of the book, this should really have been checked prior to publication. For example, the solution to this question -'Expand and simplify 2x(x+4)-4' is confusingly given as '2x(squared)+8x-8y'.Consequently if your answers don't match those given in the solution, you have to be mindful that you may well be correct and the book wrong! Still a good book though.

Not as good as the old version by Karen Morrison alone - Nick Hamshaw has added more material to meet the new syllabus, plus some jokes, but the level of proof-reading is deplorable. Worrying when you can't trust the answers, though it gives you extra practice when trying to work out if it's you or the editors who have made each error!

Great book. Hate Mathematics !
