Very good, reasonably priced
I wanted a manual coffee grinder (my dog goes crazy with the noise of the electric one!) and dint want to spend a fortune. So a little research and this Cooko grinder was on a top 10 list on a coffee site I use. It arrived day after ordering (Prime!) and was, as is Amazon's way now, totally overpacked (but cardboard is recyclable and better safe than sorry). The grinder itself is small (about 7ins/or 15cm tall) and comes with a spare glass bowl. Assembly was non existent - take off the locking screw, adjust for your grind, put handle on, tighten locking screw. That's it. The grind itself? Very easy - just turn the handle and off you go - I didn't find it 'stiff' as some others have stated. The only point I would highlight, is, that although the glass bowl has a rubber non slip base, when grinding I had to hold the bowl with one hand and turn the grinding handle with my other hand - so I'm not sure about the practicality of this for someone who may limited use of their hands. Very easy to clean - a brush is even provided.

Once reassembled it's excellent if you can face the manual grinding!
I was a little dubious when this first arrived, it was in box without any COOKO branding and the first time out the box it just cracked the beans into quarters or thirds. It was all ready to be parcelled up and sent back when I just took the major pieces only apart from each other and put them back together tighter and more securely et voila it worked, but that could be quite daunting for some just to grind some beans and partly why I knocked the easy to use down to 3 stars. I bought this as I needed a coffee grinder having a lot of beans after thinking it was ground, and concluded that burr grinders are the only way forward as blades just chop and overheat the beans and taint the volatile oils (I've seen what making nut butter did to my blender!) but electric burr grinders are pretty extortionate if you're not sure if you're going to keep on the grinding at home path and unaffordable and not justifiable to us on a budget so this was the best and most affordable alternative after researching on the Internet. I would agree with the research conclusions, this is excellent value for money. Grinding by hand isn't the quickest method and it's not for people who have any kind of mobility or joints issue, but for those able it's not the end of the world, I tend to grind enough for that day and maybe a backup if I've got friends coming at a time, my husband will grind 2-3 days worth as he's said he's too lazy to do it when needed (the irony of expending more effort in one go as opposed to when needed is not lost on me) I find it as an act of mindfulness or meditation to pause than a chore but I know my dad will avoid having to grind if he can at all, as he finds it boring and annoying and says he is highly tempted to buy an electric! So different personalities will either love or hate the manual grinding, this is a good burr grinder for what it's worth once reassembled and the spare grinding and storage jars are great, the little cleaning brush is great to avoid any old grinds hiding and going rancid and it's made our morning coffee experience a much more enjoyable experience with fresher ground coffee.

This was excellent value. I read the one star reviews as well as the 5 before I purchased. I found that while this was obviously not a high end version of hand grinder but it is perfectly adequate. I have no issue with the ceramic burrs - they are perfectly good. It does take a while to grind fine but it is a hand grinder. I found that on a fine setting it did not grind the beans but if I started on a larger setting and quickly ground them very roughly then I can put them through for a second grind at the fine quality I wanted. I'm very pleased as my electric grinder doesn't grind so fine. Very pleased with this purchase and feel I'm now mobile with my aeropress and grinder! 🤗

This is a brilliant grinder, it grinds beans very evenly and having ...
I've had to re-visit my last review after more than a year with this grinder with a few observations. Firstly, as has been noted by others there are no bearings or other support in the mechanism, and so the burrs are able to swing back and forth whilst grinding, which then results in a fairly uneven grind. This is not the end of the world however, unless you are in some kind of coffee championship the grind won't ruin a cup. The worst part for me is the shape - there is no obvious place to put your non-turning hand, because of the hourglass profile. This means that such a strong grip is required across the middle that your hand will start to ache, and you'll then swap hands back and forth a couple of times per grind. On the other hand, it's less than a tenner. I bought a Knock Aergrind a few weeks ago that absolutely 'knocks' the socks off the Cooko one, but it should as it's ten times the price. Overall, if you are looking to get into freshly ground coffee then you could do a lot worse than starting with this model.

What I wanted! Is very convenient to to be able ground directly into a jar with an airtight lid rather than into a drawer - the classic type - that I need to pour out/clean out the ground coffee. A brush is also provided to clean the grinder which is quite thoughtful. Some people may prefer to ground the coffee each time they drink it but it's more convenient to ground a little more to save time for next time. Even if I want to ground a little, I could still do do with this one - just an extra option to ground more. Also I could actually see how much I ground through the transparent glass rather than having to open the drawer to see if I have enough.

Perfect in every way except one
This would be 5-stars as it is an excellent coffee grinder. The ceramic burrs crush the coffee up and you can very easily adjust how finely it does this. The only reason I rate it 4 is because the plastic knob came off the handle of mine. Upon closer inspection, it turns out the metal rod which holds the knob on isn't secured with anything underneath - it's almost like the rod is put in place and then hammered slightly to mush the metal and hold it in place. This therefore failed after a few months. I have, however, been able to fix it by replacing the metal rod with a few lengths of string, tied in a knot on either end. It looks odd but works fine, I guess I'll just have to replace the string every now and then as it wears down. Anything for a decent cup of Joe...

Wow - hard work but so worth it!
You get a great looking grinder and two glass jars that will fit to it and a nifty rubber base for use when on the grinder. I set the grinder to as fine as I could and ground up some medium strength beans into dust - really fine fluffy dust. Used in the Aeropress (inverted method leave for a minute or two with 70 degree water) this made the most amazing cup of coffee, not just good but totally amazing. Unlike an electric grinder there was no burned flavour, the full richness of the beans came out. Using he same beans with a coarser grind gave a poorer result. It does need some elbow power, don't go too fast, but it is definitely worth it. This grinder looks great too. I use the jar to store the beans (fridge), dont store the ground coffee as it goes off quickly and the point of a grinder is to get it fresh. Totally worth it!

Burr travel too loose and this will just waste good coffee.
This is junk and will never ever produce a consistent grind as the ceramic burrs are poorly made and do not hold a fixed position. There is no tension spring to at least hold the burr set at a uniform height. The looser the setting, the more the bur can travel, opening and closing the gap. There is nothing holding the central shaft in-line, so not only does it move up and down, it also wobbles from side-to-side. The jars are nice, but no better then what you can find in a £1 store. The handle is thin metal, might be ok, but I never bothered using it to find out. This is useless for grinding coffe or any spice uniformly. I returned this as it will just waste good coffee.
