I am an apprentice and I will be working with boards. are these able to cut main tails nicely for terminals?

Perfect. Much better than Knipex sheers in my option. Also work perfectly for stripping your lighting/socket circuits. There’s a bigger version about 260mm long if you struggle cutting, not much price difference

I need to cut the sharp end of a steel pushpin. Would this damage the blades? If so, can you recommend a more approprieate tool? Thanks !

Yes it would. These cutters are designed for cutting cables. So copper or aluminium. Depending on the size of the push pin, at a guess I would say a decent pair of tin snips, or a hacksaw

Been using the 6/8 inch ones for a year and a half almost, not actually realised are these insulated or not?

I wouldn't like to cut a live wire with them. The handles are PVC lined but not for electrical isolation. I think more for comfort.
