My digital dj delight.
Since vynal isn't really the choice of the dj today I went with the awesome app of djay 2 for my digital method to mix. It's fun on my iPad 2 but not quite the same, something was missing. Then I saw this extention to the app and device and was dying to get one. I finally did and I'm more than happy many years on! It's played at pubs, a mates stag wknd and is used in house for making my mixes. It also added a much better control to the app on tracks than the app can itself, especially when beat matching and keeping the tracks tight.

Easy and fast to operate durring live proformances 5 STARS
Easy and fast to operate durring live proformances. Made well enought for weekly use and gigs provide is not abused. Balances outputs is a plus for better signal strength to speakers far away (30m plus worked fine). Ipads with lightning connectors need an adaptor which works perfect but looks a bit messy.

Not suitable for the UK, AND cost me £60 to return!!!
The seller did not make it clear that the product was coming from Spain and so was sold with a European 2 pin plug and not with a UK 3 pin plug. I tried to use a travel adaptor to test the product but it appeared to be faulty and would not work. I sent the item back, but because the seller is in Spain, it cost me £60 to post using the Royal Mail. The seller then claimed that the retail box was damaged, even though the product was sent back in the same protective packaging that I received it in The item was extremely secure and very well packaged. I eventually gat a refund for the item, BUT NOT THE £60 it cost me to return it. I am not happy, and I warn other UK customers to think twice about using this Spanish company.

Disappointing experience
I am disappointed by a defensive phone call from the Electronic Centre after Amazon put a claim in without me knowing regarding my upset that a 30 pin adapter was not included for my Lightning iPad connection. It was not clearly stated some iPads would need an additional adapter. It did say Made for IPad 1/2/3rd generation. However, I don't know what that means and the Electronic Centre kept saying it "clearly stated". I believe it could have been clearer. The 2 star poor rating is mainly because of that phone call. The product is 5 star. I absolutely love it, but I have a big problem with poor communication and bad attitude and tone in customer. I work in the industry and it is shocking what we as customers sometimes have to put up with. You must challenge it, and don't be fobbed off with excuses. Be respectful, but firm.

Ok, this is my first review I have ever written on Amazon. The Numark IDJ Pro is HARD to find...atleast right now. It has said "temporarily out of stock" since May but I think that is a place holder because this thing was not really available until around the 20th of Aug. I bought this on Amazon from a third party seller and they were awesome and got it out withing 3 days. Now I have been using IPADS since they have come out and have had all 3 revisions. I currently am using the IDJ Pro with the "new ipad" 64gb. First thing you notice is the IDJ Pro is BIG! Now it has to be big to accomidate an ipad in the center. There is a velevet like lining that lets you slide the IPAD in upside down so the button is at the top and the connection cable plugs in at the top and then a nice plastic flip over cover closes around it and it looks integrated, which is pretty cool. It is in there pretty tight and no chance of it moving around. The build quality feels good to me and maybe not as high end as a traktor but it still feels more sturdy and way more professional than an IDJ Live. The IDJ Live was cool and worked nicely but the big draw back was the lack of power...meaning if you plugged the idj live into the ipad you had no way to power the Ipad except with the existing battery and the IDJ live caused it to drain a bit faster than normal. So with all that said how does the IDJ Pro work?? I think it works great NOW...why now? because as of yesterday Sept. 8, 2012 DJAY was updated...YAY! See the problem before the update was you could not use the cool "automix" feature in the portrait mode that it forces the Ipad to run in when DJAY launches. That was a major flaw...now it's damn near perfect. You can automix you have this very cool option of adding echo or flanger or various other effects on the touchpad of the IPAD on the fly when you are DJing. You can scratch better with the left jog wheel...before the update it was flakey. You can load a song on the one deck while the other is playing and you can hear what you are cueing up through the headphones while the other deck spins. You get actual balanced XLR outputs and RCA outputs on the rear of the IDJ Pro. You can run a Mic and Aux in and you have control over the gains. The IDJ Pro is just cool and people freak when they see it...lol. Now with all that said could you do what it does and spend less. Sure...but I love my IPAD and people complain about the limitations of how much music you can bring even with a 64gb IPAD...come on...you can only DJ for so many hours and play only so many songs. If you NEED more storage bring a laptop and cross fade off of it or an IPOD or MP3 Player. Could you use a dedicated Laptop with a controller instead of all this...sure...but once again this thing is damn cool and there has never been, until now anything this nice for an IPAD. I am running this with a two BOSE L1 Classics with 4 subs and you can make a thousand people happy with this setup. Bottom line I am just "scratching"...haha...the surface of what this thing can do. But if you are looking for the BEST way to control your IPAD that keeps it powered and lets you have full control over your ITUNES library and you've got deep pockets then currently there is nothing better.

I started DJ'ing about a year and a half ago, out of pure necessity. I started casually because we had a HUGE "all-white outfit affair" at our house and my wife wanted to just use our 7.1 home theater setup to play music. NO WAY. We had 70+ people that showed up and there was NO WAY in the world we were going to dance and lounge to random music form an iPod Touch. lol. So, I decided I'd do a little research on Youtube and learn how to DJ. After thinking long and hard about it and visiting countless Sam Ash's and Guitar Center's to look at WeGo's and some other iPad based controllers, I decided to go with the IDJ Pro, although I never got to touch one in store. I already had an iPad Air and figured to keep my costs down (by NOT purchasing a Macbook or a Windows Laptop) I would get this controller, which at the time seemed to be THE BEST of the bunch of controllers that utilized iPads. I must say that when I went to purchase the controller, NO local or statewide music stores had it in stock, so I grabbed one of the last ones in stock at Amazon at the time, without ever having physically touched it. I have seen a few posts stating that the IDJ Pro is definitely NOT a pro piece of equipment and that things don't work, etc., etc... Well, although I never performed with any other controller, the IDJ Pro has worked great for me on all of my gigs. Did I say GIGS? Indeed. After the success of the all-white party, I received tons of requests to DJ at Graduation Parties, Formals, Wedding Showers and more recently Weddings. Below is my current list of equipment I use: a White Apple iPad Air (2) Rockville RPG12 2-Way DJ/PA Powered Speakers Totaling 1600 Watt With a 12" Woofer an additional Rockville RBG15S 15" 1600w Active Powered PA Subwoofer 2 On Stage SS7745 Adjustable Subwoofer Attachment 2 sets of TMS® 4pcs 86 RGB LED Stage Light Par Dmx-512 Lighting 2 Stellar Labs 555-11680 Portable Light Stand - 50lb. Rectangular Stretch Tablecloth Black a Rock N Roller Multicart Model R2 Micro and a BUNCH of XLR Cables, Extension cords and Surge protectors As seen from the extensive list of supporting equipment I use at my gigs, I put a lot of stock and confidence in the IDJ Pro. Sure it has a quirk or two, but I know how to work around these. Sadly, becuase one of them has in the past caused me headaches before I figured out a work around, I can only give the product 4 stars. [THE QUIRKS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GET AROUND] * Because the IDJ Pro was originally designed for the NON-Air versions of the iPad, the slot you slide your iPad into does NOT snugly fit the iPad Air. Included with the controller are 4 felt strips with Velcro backing. IF you position these in the corners of the slots, the iPad Air is a bit more snug than without them. When really DJ'ing intensely the iPad tends to slide around A LOT. Since I have used IDJ Pro for so long, I get around this ok. * Again, since this version is made for the pre-iPad Air, in order to connect it to your iDevice you have to get a 30 pin to lightening adapter. When you attach this to your iPad, you can no longer close the little magnetic door/flap that locks the iPad in place in the controller. This doesn't keep you from using the controller, it just looks bad cosmetically/ This, of course, is not Numarks fault, as 1) this controller was made for pre-air era iPads and 2) they have a newer model that actually accommodates the iPad Air. * THIS is one quirk that had me scratching my head a lot and ALMOST caused me to sell my IDJ Pro and iPad and get a Serato based controller and Laptop. MANY TIMES, WHEN YOU GO TO PLAY YOUR MUSIC, THERE IS A LOT OF STATIC. Yes indeed, you read correctly. When this first happened to me, I thought my connections were bad so I disconnected everything and started everything over. The static didn't stop until I restarted DJAY 2 (the software that controls the IDJ Pro). WHAT??? This drove me absolutely crazy. I went on the Algorridim forums searching for solutions and everyone said the same thing "reboot the iPad and restart DJay 2). No way that can be an answer. After a few weeks I was playing around with the settings and found one that said something along the lines of "Use Hardware..." (sorry, my IDJ Pro is not near me right now). I switched the Slider OFF let it cycle through it processes and then turned it back ON. BINGO, no more static. I have no idea why this happens but does, every single time I use the unit. So, now, I build it into my setup to run through this process and everything is fine. NOTE; this does NOT appear to be a problem with the controller from Numark, but instead the DJay 2 software from Algorridim...a problem they STILL have not seemed to fix with any iteration of upgrades. [BUILD QUALITY] Ok, so with that out the way, lets discuss the plus's of the controller. Although the controller IS indeed plastic, it is durable. I bring this thing to gigs with me on a regular basis and when not doing that, I'm moving it around from office/mix tape studio to practice area in my living room. Never had a problem with any nobs or sliders breaking off or becoming dislodged. Also, because the unit is plastic, it is lighter than metal controllers. I can attest to this, as over the past year or so, I have been looking to upgrade and have messed with a LOT of controllers. Regardless, the build is solid and sturdy. [FEATURES] The controller itself has most of the features you'd expect from a controller with PRO in the name: * Crossfader * Two 4 3/4" Capacative Touch jog wheels * Full EQ for both channels/decks * Sync buttons for each deck * Pitch faders * Designated effects buttons and nobs * Track load nob * 8 Cue trigger buttons * Loop buttons... and the list goes on and on Something to be aware of: there are a SLEW of controls built directly INTO the DJay 2 software that makes this controller shine. It is but a vehicle to drive the Algoriddim DJay 2 software. There is no way in the world I can go into the software side of this setup as it would take too long. If you are interested in the software reviews, you can Youtube the software and see exactly what to expect. So, the long and short of it, I do love this controller. While some say it's not professional, I use it more than a few times a month to do paid gigs and it works great. I have found that I have outgrown the controller and will be moving up to a Serato based controller in the near future. But I still have nothing but good things to say about this controller. I do indeed love it to death...
