At the age of 21, Tim is told an incredible family secret by his father: all the men in his family have the ability to relive their past. He can revisit any moment in his life to try things differently until he gets them perfectly right. He decides to use his special new gift to win the heart of the beautiful Mary, but finds that the course of true love can be hilariously difficult - even with the ability to try, try and try again. About Time is a romantic comedy about love, life and time travel, which discovers that, in the end, making the most of life may not need time travel at all. Review: It's About Time 'Actually' - Back in 1946-47, It's a Wonderful Life received mixed reviews, ranging from a lionization in The Hollywood Reporter to a vicious trashing in the New Yorker. Although nominated for five Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Actor, in what Stewart called his favorite role), the movie was shut out at the ceremony. And, despite Capra's popularity at the box office, It's a Wonderful Life barely made back its cost. Why do I quote the mild failure of 'It's A Wonderful Life on it's original release, one reason is because this was my favourite film of all time until I saw 'About Time' - sad to admit this, but I saw it 6 times at the cinema, and enjoyed every darn bit of it, if I was to write what it was all about, it would be a sassy as trying to describe 'It's A wonderful Life' to someone for the first time, 'Well it's about an angel called Clarence who follows this fella through his life, and then he throws himself of a bridge, and this fella gets a chance to see what his life was life had he never lived it" - sounds ridiculous and so far fetched as to be bordering on the absurd, and yet this film has touched millions and millions of people through the years, I had a good friend who was a daily visitor to Frank Capra's (Director) home later in his life, and he told him one day "that film was bigger than what we had written". And so it is with 'About Time' when I tried to describe to my good friends why I loved it, describing a young man that could hold his fists together in a dark place and go back to any time in his life seemed difficult to try and put across, so I just would just say, look just go and see it. And yet this film really does deliver on 'what matters in this life, family, time and kindness, I found myself under it's spell each time I saw it. The reviews for this film on it's release were mixed from those who felt they should leave the film midway through, to others that were so touched they went and rang there parents as soon as they left the cinema. The other reason I quote 'It's A Wonderful Life's original reception, is that I believe 'About Time' WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME better than most - I suspect 20 years from now, when some obscure channel is running the film again for the 4th time that month, people will sit down for the evening to settle in for a good reminder of what life is actually all about. So yeah, I guess you can say I am looking forward to the DVD coming out!!! Review: A silly and lovely movie - Call me shallow if you will but I bought this DVD because the movie was showing on the telly in the pub the other night (without sound). Bill Nighy caught my eye first (I always enjoy him playing himself) and then I was enraptured by the gorgeous Rachel McAdams in some lovely frocks, and coquettishly and charmingly stripping down to her undies a couple of times (told you I was shallow!) At this point I had no idea of the plot or that it entailed time travel, and I shall say no more about it here since so many other reviewers have covered it thoroughly. Suffice it to say that it's a silly, charming, moving, thought-provoking feelgood movie which will put a spring in your step and the romance back in your relationships. Oh, and I'm now officially in love with the achingly beautiful Ms. McAdams.

Simply gorgeously sublime!!
Stunning!!! Richard Curtis delivers yet again. The acting is sublime. Yes, it is kind of The Time Travellers Wife but it's done with style, grace, elegance, charm and great panache - in fact, it's everything The Time Traveller's Wife film totally wasn't! Would that any of us could repeat anything we've done until we got it right!! It's just a beautifully heartwarming story, richly acted and deftly told. Unmissable from start to finish and the finish does not disappoint. Honestly, don't miss this one because there are lessons here for all of us who are prepared to listen and learn. It makes sense of such that is in all of our lives. A modern parable for simply more enjoyable living, surer and more certain of who we are and where we're going.

Very Posh Romantic Film
Overall this is a very good film. The bizarre eating with the lights off nonsense aside it is heartwarming funny and tragic. At its heart is the bond between father and son and I enjoyed it very much They're all very posh in this movie but don't let that hold you back

Wonderful film
Absolutely wonderful film buy it. It's not a Four Weddings and a Funeral film which my wife loves, this one is much better. We just about stopped watching it part of the way through due to a couple of gringe worthy scenes and the time travel looked as if it was getting repetitive. Thank goodness we didn't stop watching this is a brilliant film. Whatever stage of life you're at you'll relate to this film, if you have a child the father son relationship will deeply touch you. The message of appreciate every day is one that we don't listen to and act upon enough. This is now my wife's favourite film and definitely one we'll watch again and recommend to friends. Whilst other films will be forgotten this one will stay in our memory and I hope prioritising the important things in life does too.

Inventive, funny, touching...
I like this film a lot. Lots of reviews with the almost obligatory "I hate Richard Curtis but..." line, so as not to feel too grubby while heaping praise on one of his films. I doubt Richard Curtis minds too much as long as people go to see his movies. I get the feeling he makes movies for himself (that he likes), which is just as it should be. If the public fork out good money to see them and come back for more then so much the better. About Time is a fine movie in so many ways, and worth watching again.

Funny, charming, and brilliant!
If you liked Love Actually, you'll love this movie! Funny, charming, and brilliant. What would you change about life and love if you could go back in time? It has you question your priorities, and what you could do to make your life more fulfilling. Definitely in my top 10 movies of all time.
