I followed the directions on the label, but most of the mushrooms stay chewy and hard to eat!** A: Soak the dried mushroom in lukewarm water for 20 minutes, then sautee the soaked mushroom in olive oil or butter for 5 minutes. This is just to prepare and cook the dried mushrooms themselves, of course you want to add seasoning to your liking (garlic/onion, salt, white wine, cook with fresh mushroom) and recipes depend if you use it in soup, risotto or pasta. **Q: Once these have been soaked can they be steamed cooked?** A: As steaming involves moisture it will work, just frying doesn't as they contain too much water from the initial soaking. A good idea to cut into thin strips or even mincing gets over any potential toughness. They are full of flavour and you don't need very much to add to stews, soups or sauces. Risottos also work well. I was delighted to find this brand of dried mixed mushrooms on Amazon. love using these to make mushroom risotto, a great standby dried food for those days when you don't know what to make (perfect for omelets too) and you need something quick. I also use these in casseroles etc.You get loads, the jar seems to last forever and its better value than fresh mushrooms.Very pleased :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love the mushrooms but the PET container is a concern *by M***R on 18 August 2017* We absolutely enjoyed the mushrooms and are about to purchase our second pot. However, I have a slight concern- the container is made from PET (No. 1) due to its nature as it can easily leak to its content as time goes, therefore, it has been named as food unfriendly plastic.
