Gavin is an ordinary boy from Billericay, and Stacey an ordinary girl from Barry. After speaking on the phone to each other every day at work - they finally meet and fall in love... I won't lie to you, life is never quite that simple. For a start there are Gavin’s parents, Stacey’s mum and Uncle Bryn and best mates Nessa and Smithy to consider, as well as the small matter of living in different countries separated by a long bridge and a toll gate.★★★ Winner of two BAFTAs and four British Comedy awards, Gavin & Stacey is poignant, genuine and hilarious – one of the stand-out comedyTV series of the 21st Century. ★★★Series One: Falling in love causes a ripple effect on Gavin and Stacey's family and friends. And as their wedding day approaches we soon come to realise that there's nothing 'ordinary' about the Shipmans and the Wests after all... Series Two: The honeymoon's over for the newlyweds, and their married life begins in earnest at the Shipman family home in Essex. But, as the reality of living so far away sinks in, Stacey starts missing her home in Barry Island along with her mum and her Uncle Bryn.Series Three: Gavin and Stacey have moved to Wales. Stacey couldn't be happier now she’s back with her mum Gwen, her uncle Bryn and a daily diet of omelettes. Gavin on the other hand is adjusting to life in Barry, and although he won't admit it, he's missing his parents Pam and Mick and of course, his best friend Smithy. Smithy is bereft in Essex without Gav, and is trying to get used to the fact that his son, Neil the baby, is now living in a caravan with mum Nessa and soon-to-be stepfather Dave Coaches. Christmas Special: It's Christmas time and the Welsh contingent have been invited to celebrate the festive season with the Shipmans. So with the help of Dave and his coach; the West's head East. Dawn and Pete have come round for Christmas Eve drinks, and Pete's brought his aged mum. Mick has an enormous turkey soaking in a bucket, Bryn has his mistletoe on standby and Pam has a cracker of a present under the tree for Mick."… It’s a gem.”-- Daily Mail“…very rude, very funny…”-- London Evening Standard ”…there’s almost an embarrassment of riches here. Sweet, and studded with moments of cheerful filth…”-- Daily Mirror “Superb”-- Daily Telegraph Review: Immense! - I'll tell you what, Gwen, this omelette...erm, no....that's not right. Start again. This boxset is immense!:) All three series, and the 2008 Christmas special, of the best, wittiest, most charming and romantic British sitcom ever made (in my humble opinion). Six million viewers can't be wrong. It is totally deserving of the awards and nominations it has picked up along the way, not limited to TWO Baftas (Audience Award and Best Comedy Performance for James Corden). So often a show can find itself overrated and over-hyped, but I honestly don't think Gavin & Stacey has been. Not one bit. I think it is all they say it is...and more. For me the comedy comes from those around the two leads. Gavin and Stacey are very much foils for the crazy and lovable friends and families who provide the comedic elements. Rob Brydon's 'Uncle Bryn', Stacey's uncle, is just so funny it is untrue. While James Corden's 'Smithy', Gavin's best mate, is also hilarious. The dry 'Nessa', Stacey's best friend (played by Corden's co-writer Rush Jones) has to be seen to be believed. However, all the characters are funny...and I feel awful singling anyone out for individual credit. I'm struggling to find the words to describe in what way these characters are funny....I simply can't. It just has to be experienced. All I can say is that like 'The Royle Family', a lot of the comedy comes from mundane, every day conversations. And although it can be saucy and racy, I honestly can't remember a single expletive being uttered throughout the series. Certainly not the bad swear words anyway. As regards the actual box set, well I can confirm that all the extras from the previous individual releases are all accounted for, so this is the most economical way to buy the complete Gavin & Stacey collection, IF you have so far managed to resit buying the individual series 1 and 2 sets, and the 2008 Christmas special, that is. If you have been buying those, then you're best off buying the standalone season 3 set...as this contains nothing you will miss purchasing it that way. However, it is a pleasure to own the lot in one neat box set. When they call this 'the complete collection', they mean exactly that. Series 3 was the last we will likely see of our two favourite families from Billericay and Barry Island. James Corden and Ruth Jones have said it will have to be a HUGE inspiration for them to make even another special, while another series is definitely out of the picture. To summarise, it is tidy! And well lush! Just buy it, savour it, and hope that we'll see its like again. Review: Great series that is entertaining and easy to like - Great series. Typically british humour and very clever writing. Character driven with some very likeable performances

Nessa! You look stunning! I knows - I feels it.
I didn't watch much of G&S when it was on terrestrial tv in the UK, but I decided to order it as a treat to watch whilst I'm out of the country for a few months. It's been one of the best purchases I've ever made. The writing and acting of the entire series is phenomemal - in one episode you can find black humour, farce, pathos and real characters. James Corden and Ruth Jones are clearly not only incredibly talented, but they make an outstanding writing partnership - and on screen, they are equally brilliant. Rob Brydon as Uncle Bryn provides moments of cushion-biting hilarity and cringe, and Joanna Page and Mathew Horne make you root for their characters in a way that brings them to life. I've laughed myself silly, and cried my eyes out watching this show. The supporting characters are exceptional actors in their own right, and no one hogs the limelight. This is observational comedy at its finest. The extras on this box set are also very good - particularly the interviews with James Corden and Ruth Jones, which show that they write from the heart - and the funny bone. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Great series very watchable very funny
Gavin and stacey is a great British series. It is funny and one of those sorts of prgrams you can watch over and over again. It is based on a Gavin from essex and Stacey from Barry Island, Wales. The two fall in love but are seperated by a toll bridge, and come from completely different worlds. The comedy is light hearted and can be watched by anyone over the age of 12 I would say as some of the content would be a bit 'mature' for younger audiences in the way they may not understand it. The program is co-written and stars James Cordon who is a great actor (think the England team football sketch on comic relief if you have not seen his other work). I would reccommend this to people who like comedy which is based on real life, it has lots of twists and a great character mix. The only disadvantage is it is not long enough with around 6 episodes per series. The box set is great value because it is much cheaper than buying the seperate series and even includes the christmas special.

Gavin & Stacey The Complete Collection
I bought the boxset because I had seen a few episodes on GOLD with my older brother and really enjoyed it. I had missed the whole of season 1 and part of season 2 and the whole of three. I saw most on TV choice on demand by virgin and enjoyed the complete first season I just had to buy the boxset. I am very happy with it. It is laid out really nicely and it's easy to find the disk you want. Each episode is hilarious and is something you can watch over and over again. James Corden and Ruth Jones are two brilliant writers of comedy as they transform a story about an Essex boy and a Welsh girl falling in love into a comedy that will leave you crying with laughter. It is something that will never be out dated and I recommend it to anyone who's seen the episodes or have never seen them before. You will miss out on some great comedy if you don't pick this up. Stars include, Rob Brydon, James Corden, Ruth Jones, Joanna Page and many more.

I love my dvd and i live in the States, a helpful hind for my American people buying movie's or show from another country, find out what region that dvd is playing because most dvd has region 0-1 and that's what we play here in the States, but in Europe the use region 2-5 and it's not compatible so you can't see it unless you buy a DVD one like i did on Amazon that you can watch every country in the world.

Absolute Sehempfehlung. P.S. Downtown Abbey war mein letztes Highlight - nun Gavin and Stacey. Have fun !

Written & starring James Corden about a couple who meet through work, marry, move, deal with odd families & friends. Their bffs don't like each other but slowly become a couple & the focus. Highly recommend.
