In regards to soft vs firm - does your head sink into the pillow with the soft? I don't know what firmness my current pillow is.

Hello, the pillow feels soft when you press your hand on it, but it is not the extreme soft one that your head can sink into the pillow. When you lie down, it does provide enough support for your head and neck. I would say it feels like medium firm to me. Hope it's helpful.

Is this ready to use right out if package?

It takes a few minutes to fluff up because the package is vacuum sealed, but it doesn’t take long. The worst issue is that this pillow smells moldy. I had to return them. I bought Sealy brand instead.

I know the pillow case can be washed but; what about the actual pillow? Pillow still smells after a week.

I had to let mine air out 3 wks. and spray to get rid of smell. Not a comfortable pillow at all.
