I ordered these on a whim, as I was looking for coasters with an elegant yet modern design, and I thought the price point was great for a set of four. I was surprised to find that they are quite substantial, nice thickness to the stone and a quality printed pattern on top. They have a cork backing which protects surfaces from water damage. I thought this was a nice touch since even some expensive coasters come with no backing or have that useless thin microfiber underside. The printed surface design does not feature actual gold foil, it is just meant to give the ‘illusion’ that they are gilded. This didn’t bother me one bit, they still look great! The one thing that was truly surprising was the ‘absorbent’ claim. I didn’t pay attention to that when ordering but man, is it a great feature! Your coasters will never be wet, and all the condensation off your cold drinks gets sucked right up! The coasters were cool to the touch but not one drip in sight.
