Derwent pencils seem to be slightly larger in diameter to others. Pastel pencils are notoriously difficult to sharpen as they break or blunt the blades but this sharpener does the job better than much more expensive ones I have tried. It comes with two spare blades which are loose so I have secured them inside with a bit of tape so that they don't get thrown out when the sharpener is emptied. There are two little holes on the sides which I think are to sharpen propelling pencils. A tip I was given is that you sharpen the whole pencil from one hole and then you can put the pencil in the other side to sharpen to a really sharp point if you need it. Would thoroughly recommend and it did help that I had tried a friend's beforehand but not with Derwent pencils then. It is small so does not take up much room in your art bag. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent, finally a decent sharpener *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 6 March 2025* I had dabbled with various manual and electric pencil sharpeners but I could never achieve that truly fine point I always see other artists using to produce detailed work. I saw someone recommend this one, and thought I would give it a shot. I am very impressed, it really does create a very sharp point, and have been able to achieve some pretty impressive detail. I would certainly recommend this to others.
