As an architect working with bespoke interiors, artisan furniture concepts, and restoration detailing, the Sennelier La Petite Aquarelle 36 Half Pan set has become a surprisingly useful ally in my day-to-day design flow. When I'm developing mood boards that mix tile samples, handmade textiles, or natural wood tones, this palette helps me quickly block in atmosphere and test material combinations on paper. I pair it with Raphaël travel brushes and textured Fabriano or Canson watercolor paper, and the whole setup feels tactile and grounded—very in tune with the artisanal nature of the projects I take on. The colors are rich without being overly saturated, which works beautifully when rendering subtle patinas on aged metal, limewashed walls, or layered architectural fragments. It's also small and durable enough to bring into shops or workshops—great for translating ideas directly into sketches when I meet with craftspeople or upholsterers. Of course, it has its limits. The palette is geared more toward expressive work than technical accuracy: some hues—especially greys and deeper browns—don’t carry the same pigment strength you'd find in professional-grade sets. And while the pans can jiggle a bit in the tray, I haven’t had issues as long as I work on a flat surface. The lack of full pigment data makes exact replication a bit tricky if you're trying to match tones for sourcing finishes. But the ease of use, clean mixes, and charming color range make it perfect for developing early design narratives, especially when you're balancing spatial intent with handcrafted details. If your workflow includes sketching out cabinet layouts next to vintage tile references or mapping out built-in shelving in a restored façade, this set hits the sweet spot between quality and creative freedom.

Great colors and needed a travel set for watercolor

One star off because the paints came all jumbled and. Had to figure out which color was which! Great size and travel worthy

The paints arrive unwrapped and loose in the container which is a little annoying since you have to swatch them to figure out which color is which. That said, they seem to lay down well, the selection is nicely thought out. They appear decently pigmented (other than the cobalt blue, burnt sienna and burnt umber which tend to be on the weaker side in student sets) and they don’t dry particularly chalky. They appear to be the real thing, though with the way they were packaged I had my doubts. I don’t regret buying them but Cotman is easily as good and doesn’t come mixed together randomly in a plastic tray. If you like Sennelier colors then you will like these. Missing a cerulean shade which would have been nice to have too (Though the cobalt is close in this set)

I really love Sennilier watercolors and the student range is actually quite good and fun to use. The case is a durable plastic molded construction and the pans sit in slots instead of a metal palette insert. This makes it lighter but I recommend using glue dots to adher the pans to the bottom of the slots to keep them from jumbling about. This is also a super price for the full range of colors. And when I use these up, I'll purchase the professional range tubes. Looking for to using these for years to come!

Tengo la fortuna de tener varias marcas de acuarelas profesionales y gamas inferiores, pero nunca me había sentido tan decepcionada de un producto como hoy. Pagué demasiado por un producto que dista muchísimo de la marca. El papel donde viene la información de las acuarelas, parecía de segunda, pegado con un par de cintas. Al abrir la caja, la desilusión aumentó, las pastillas venían sueltas, revueltas, algunas a medio llenar y como no traen ni siquiera el código, es imposible organizarlas y saber a qué color corresponden. En definitiva, no pierdan su dinero, no hagan esta compra. La fila de pastillas del centro, no son fijas a la caja, vienen sueltas, como si se tratara de una caja de acuarelas y unas pastillas adicionadas sin que formen parte de este estuche. En cuanto a la calidad de las acuarelas, es aceptable, algunos pierden el pigmento aún pintando directamente de la pastilla.

Like other reviewers, mine were scattered within the case. I am questioning the age of the paints as the white plastic container has yellowed. I have not decided to swatch them, as I may send them back.

I’m not for sure if the quality is good or not. I have been so frustrated trying to get them in order after them being scattered everywhere in the palette. Some of the pans are not very full. Example the red in the second picture. It may be a quarter pan. It definitely isn’t a half pan. I guess it’s good I didn’t pay a lot for them.

I adore these watercolour paints. Just so easy and use. With 36 half pans, Just brilliant. I feel spoilt having such lovely paints! However I'm worth it. They bring me joy and I look forward to using them all the time.

Bin begeistert und froh zu dieser Marke gegriffen zu haben. Super Pikmente (ein Hauch Farbe und viel Wasser ergeben viel Farbe :) ) Lassen sich auch hervorragend mischen. Jaaaaa, das Senneliergelb ist zweimal drin ! Wäre für eine Andere auch froh gewesen aber die Qualität und der Malspass machen das wieder wett. Nein, ich werde nicht für diese Bewertung bezahlt, habe mich nur in die Farben verliebt !!!

Je n'irais pas jusqu'à dire que c'est une palette pour débutants aux vues de la grande gamme de couleurs qu'elle propose. Certaines couleurs sont parfaite, lumineuse même en qualité fine, d'autre en revanche sont pour moi inutile car très facile à obtenir en mélange. Sans doute une erreur mais j'ai eu deux godets de fushia mais pas de pourpre dioxazine

A differenza dei tubetti questa scatola è un po troppo spartana. Non tutti i colori hanno le padelle. Un po' complicato
