This item worked perfectly for getting them mounted properly. We were lucky that the 1/2" hole was exactly what our lamp needed. The original ones wore out. These work fine but sometimes they start slipping of the table edge where we installed them. We move our lamps around a lot to reach different working areas. This type of tightening bar to tighten the clamp onto the desk cannot be tightened tight enough with bare hands to prevent it eventually slipping off the edge of a desk. We had to use a tool to tighten it down so it would no longer slip. Once it is on the edge of the desk securely this item works fine. We like that is has a hand friendly tightening screw to hold the post in the clamp more securely.
