Super Clear Water
I was skeptical of this. I have a variety of small fish in a 20 gal tank. Plus snails who make a mess. This pump works amazing. I’ve been running it as a pump only with out the attached hose thing on top. I reached out to their customer support to verify it would work like this bc I didn’t like the amount of micro bubbles and noise it made with the hose on as an air pump. They got back in less than 24hours confirming you can use it without the air pump attachment. You can visually see the UV light on. It lights green. I kept the sponge inside bc I didn’t have green algae. My tank was just cloudy and dirty from the snails. I did clean the glass first and stirred the gravel a bit to get things moving. 2 days later. Crystal clear. I do have a hang on the back filter from petsmart that gets nasty pretty quick. This is a great addition for any tank.

Bad product
The product quality not good. The bubble without a few times. The UV light still have algae growing. It's not even 5 months yet the filter make noise like a rolling rubbing noise that is annoy.

Loving it so far...
My tank has never been cleaner! This bad boy doesn't take up as much space as the previous filter I have used and it was very easy to set up as well as clean. It is also much quieter than my last one. So far everything is working well and I look forward to seeing how long it can last. My fish seem to enjoy the bubbles too. I haven't had it for long so I can't speak on durability yet. TBD

BEST FILTER I'VE EVER HAD!
This is the best filter! although it takes time for the water to clear completely, (about a month altogether), it completely clears all the algae in the tank and makes the water crystal clear. For a few months I was dealing with horrible green water where I could hardly see the fish and didn't know where they were half the time, and this filter did the job and now I can see everything completely! Best filter I've ever had! (It was a game changer to say the least)

Cleans so well!!
Great filter for our turtle tank! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the timer function doesn't work, it also only turns off if you unplug it. Works well enough to be worth the ecmxtra hassle!

Green clearing machine
I recently set up a 20 gallon aquarium in my greenhouse. I use native plants from the canal. Unfortunately some of the plants I collected brought in algae. It went wild! I prefer to not filter the water and only use a bubbler normally. I bought this for the UV killing properties. I removed the foam filter and set the variable timer on the light for six hours. I’M IMPRESSED! It has taken almost two weeks but the water is reasonably clear. You can actually see through all the way thru the aquarium. The water will never be clear, that’s not the nature of the aquarium, but the algae has cleared and continues to do so. Which I s what I wanted. After all, it’s a PLANT AQUARIUM, the mosquito fish are just there to control the mosquitos. A good product. I’m pleased.

50/50 shot of the pump working
I bought 2 of these. One is working great! Tank is cleared and haven't had any issues. The other filter, completely stopped working. I did attempt to do the troubleshooting. The light works, but the pump no longer cycles the water through. So looks like there is a 50/50 ratio of these pumps working.

My tank was plagued by a green algae bloom that would not go away no matter what I tried. I read other reviews on this UV filter in particular, and there were many happy customers, so I put in my order. The package arrived fast and everything arrived in tact. It was super easy to assemble and get running. I removed the yellow sponge filter so to run the UV light. Love the timer function! I started on a 12 hour timer. I started to notice a difference in the water clarity the next day. On day 5, I switched the timer to 3 hours. The tank was crystal clear by day 7. So happy!!!

The size is a bit cumbersome for a small aquarium. It works great. The filter works continuously, and the UV lamp is controllecby a timer (off, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours), a small light can be seen in the darh when the UV lamp is switched On. I remove to included sponge as I use it only for the UV lamp. My marine aquarium water is now really clear.

I saw an immediate decrease in brown algae (diatoms) after using this. My water source has silica in it so not much I can do about that. My glass would be brown and I would have to scrap it weekly. Now I don't have to scrap as often and my glass looks clean for longer. I see less green algae as well. If the algae is on the glass, you would have to run the uv while scraping the glass to get the algae to be treated. My one con is that the timer doesn't keep time very well. Overall, the UV filter works though. Edit: changed my review to one star. I took the filter out of my aquarium. The inside of the filter is degrading after less than a year and there are black particles coming out. The UV light destroyed the plastic inside. Rather than risking my fish, it's going in the garbage.

Cleared my daughter's murky tank of green algae within about 3 days. Water is crystal clear now and keeps it clean even though her room igets alot of light during the day. Highly recommend. I'll likely reorder for the new tank were setting up.

There are two versions of this product, I bought the smaller one (mostly because I didn't see the larger one) for 10-40 Gal tanks. The product is meant to be submersed in the tank, but the air tube was not long enough to put this on the bottom of my tank and have it reach outside the tank. Fortunately, the tube was a standard size so I made my own. This works extremely well as a bubbler creating incredible oxygenation that the fish seem to really like. You can control the amount of bubbles by a dial outside the tank that lets more or less air in. Noise is relatively low, and definitely no where near as annoying as the bubbler I had. The amount of noise it makes is related to the amount of oxygenation you choose, but even on the max it's not overly noisy. The output can be directed to where you want it. They include a foam insert, but tell you to NOT use the foam insert if your going to use the UV light, so I'm not sure the point of it. The unit draws 11W for pump and UV light with the UV light being a 5W bulb (the larger unit has a larger pump and larger bulb). I have no idea if 5W is enough or not. The bulb itself is visible from the bottom of the pump but if you have the bulb on a timer then it would be hard to know whether the bulb is burned out or if the timer is just off. The timer allows you to choose the number of hours per 24 hour, but there is no clock on the device so I guess it starts counting when you plug it in, or if you have a power hit, it all resets. If there was a weakness, it's this timer, but for the price this is an acceptable choice. Honestly, I'm not sure why I wouldn't just leave it on 24x7 for 5W. I have no idea if the UV light will make any difference in the algae levels in the tank, but it sure can't hurt. I have no clue where I would get a replacement bulb when it burns out, and I don't know how long the expected life of the bulb is, or how often I should clean it. All in all a good product.
