A joy to use, and very good value for the money
I was initially after a crimper for bootlace end ferrules, and after adding this Preciva model to my Amazon basket, I saw a different Preciva crimper for spade terminals which I also added. Both had a large number of positive reviews, and at the time I write this, this bootlace ferrule crimper has an overall rating 4.8 out of 242 reviews, and 88% of them are 5-star reviews. Based on these positive reviews, I ordered them both. The following day I was reminded by a newspaper article that a website called Fakespot checks the reviews of any Amazon item you want, and gives a grading from A to F, based on how authentic the reviews appears to be. I was alarmed when I checked both crimpers, and the website graded both sets of reviews with an F (the lowest grading) indicating that it thought most of the reviews were fake! These are often where the seller has offered an incentive for giving a positive review, perhaps asking for a product photo or video upload. It also said "Our engine has profiled the reviewer patterns and has determined that there is high deception involved." Although a bit worried about these dire warnings, I was looking forward to checking out both tools to see what they were *really* like! This is therefore a review for the "Preciva Crimper Plier Set, 0.25-10mm²/AWG23-10 Self-adjustable Ratchet Wire Crimping Tool with 1200 Wire Terminal Crimp Connectors and Wire End Ferrule". The crimper was accompanied by a selection box of ferrules, a nicely-presented instruction booklet, and a zip-up case. The case isn't mentioned in the item description, but I note that some other reviewers have received one in the package too. Other reviewers have supplied photos of what they got, and examples of the crimping, so I won't add my own to this review as I have nothing new to add on that score. Also included was a card which suggested I might like to join the "Preciva Tester community", where I would "get products at a heavily-discounted price or free". I have not visited the relevant Facebook page, nor have I contacted or been approached by the seller or manufacturer. Despite my worries, I am actually very pleased with my purchase. The tool I received makes a very good job of crimping, and the good selection of differently-sized ferrules looks as though it'll last me for some time. The ferrules don't come off the wire when pulled, and the final result is very neat. Because the supplied ferrules have an insulated plastic sleeve at one end, they won't be suitable for all applications. The non-insulated variety are better-suited in small spaces, like UK 13A plugs. I tried to remove some of the plastic sleeves, but they were very well attached to the metal ferrule tube, and I just ended up damaging the ferrule. I have now purchased a collection of non-insulated ferrules to supplement the insulated ones which were included with the crimper. Note that this crimper has four jaws/anvils, and the end result is a ferrule with a squarish cross-section, unlike some other crimpers which have six jaws/anvils, but that's no problem for me. Preciva offer a more expensive six-jaw crimper kit on Amazon, but the crimp range is reduced to 0.25-6mm². The crimper has comfortable plastic handles which don't slip off, and it feels very good to hold and use. It is very similar to other sub-£25 end ferrule crimpers on Amazon (they probably come from the same Chinese factory), and it is likely that they take their design from the expensive Knipex 975304 (also available on Amazon) which is from a very well respected German company, but costs about five to eight times as much! All in all, I am very happy to award 5 stars to this crimper kit, as it is a joy to use. The tool works exactly as I had hoped, there's a good selection of ferrules, and the kit is very good value. Unfortunately the other Preciva crimper didn't work quite so well, but that's for another review!

A great crimping tool and ferrule set.
Once you start using ferrules, you'll never go back. This kit gives you everything you need to get started, including the tool and a large variety of colour coded ferrules in a box. The kit also comes with a carry case that holds both the box of ferrules and the tool itself, keeping everything neat and tidy this this unit. The grip is normal, nothing amazing but works. It functions really well and has good accuracy and is easy to use!

Fantastic Toolbox Addition
I've been wanting to buy a ferrule tool for ages and never needed it enough to warrant it! I am currently adding some additional electrics to my campervan so the time is now Overall excellent quality and the design is good, so even when clamping down, the comfort is retained crimping the ferrule - Give a really good durable connection. I have only knocked a star (more on the condition that the ferrule tool itself). I bought a Like New, but unfortunately, it was missing quite a few of the grey ferrules as you will see. I had ordered needing to use it the day after, so I had to keep the despite this but disappointing on this point Great sized kit and well priced

No case - Resolved
I opted for this model, the updated crimper going under the heading of 1200 pieces, because it seemed to be semi automatic and would be easy to use for various size wire/cable. I had noticed that the original model came with a smart zipped case as part of the kit. However as this was not mentioned anywhere I asked the community if one was included. Four previous buyers confirmed that a case was included for this kit. I have just taken delivery and have to inform any new prospective buyers that a case is NOT included. Perhaps I should have asked the question of the retailer. Anyway, my disappointment aside, I have played with the kit and have found the crimper easy to use, feels good in my chubby hands and appears to be well made and will suit my purpose. I have had to deduct 2 stars because it is obvious that a case use to be included when I examine the photos of taken by the reviewers but that one is no longer provided. This should be made clear in the "about this item" section. Update - I have just visited the Preciva storefront and this item is shown with the missing case. I have tried to contact the seller but Amazon is the supplier and I am going around in circles. If the seller reads this and gets in touch I will gladly make any changes to this review if necessary. 2nd Update I managed to obtain an email address for the seller after having given up on Amazon's system (when will they make things easier for us?) I explained my concern and the response was within a day where the matter was explained to me fully. It would appear that Amazon have a weight limit for certain packages so the bag is no longer supplied and although the seller has asked for changes to be made to the details outlined the hold-up seems to be down to amazon. Anyway, an offer of a £10 refund or a new (older model) crimper which is still being shipped with the carry case was made. I opted for the latter and received said package within 2 days. I have to say that in this day and age the actions taken by Preciva store is remarkable. They not only expressed concern but actively did something about it. That is what customer service should be like. Keep the customer happy and they will return which is what I will do should I require any of their products. 5 stars does not do them justice.

Excellent set of ferrule crimps.
Unboxing: The outer cardboard box is sturdy and provides good protection during shipping. Inside is a fabric zip closure case with space for the crimp too and box of ferrules. There's also a multi language user manual which is clear and concise. In use: The ferrules are easy to select with wire sizes on the inside of the box insert. The ferruled hadn't slipped or mixed, despite being shipped. The only improvement here would be to fasten to cardboard insert to the lid so it stays in place. The ferrule material is bright and not tarnished. It can be slipped onto a stripped wire, with the wire either trimmed to length before or after insertion. From there, simply insert into the crimp tool up to the base of the ferrule and squeeze. The crimp tool feels robust, and handled from the smallest to the largest ferrule nicely. The ferrules are then very firmly crimped in place, and would not pull off. They handle insertion into a screwed terminal well, with a good length of ferrule for insertion. This can be trimmed back if required for a shorter terminal insertion depth. The ferrules are crimped into a square shape as expected. This means they can take up more space than the alternative hexagonal crimps in circular terminals, but provides a bigger land for a screw to bite into. Final thoughts: I'd buy it again if I needed another one. This tool is excellent quality and sturdy, and the provided selection and quantity of ferrules is superb. Certainly enough to keep most hobbyists going for a good while.

Good value for money, works well.
Bought this after a bit of research on Amazon, I’m the guy that will read 10 reviews for a screw, so I tend to be careful with what I purchase. I have a few go to brands for tools, but I had never tried Preciva. The first surprise when turning up was that it came in a case, I had picked the cheapest option “just in case it was bad” and expected only to get the tool and crimps, so getting the case was a bonus and it’s nice quality. The tool I cannot fault at all. Many years ago these crimps were the bane of my life, the tool I used was nowhere near as sophisticated as this one and after a few cycles I would find that they would fail, often with dramatic effect since it often meant that suddenly a load more amps were being pushed over less cables and smoke often ensued. I’m really impressed with the actual crimps, and I’ve become a convert since this tool entered my life! The tool is great, the crimps are great and the end result is great as well. No hesitation in recommending this and I will certainly add preciva to my list of tool vendors worth considering!

Awesome bit of kit, much better than my CK tools one!
I've been building some panels for a new customer, who requires ferrules to be crimped with square (four jaw) crimpers. That meant that my £50 CK tools crimper was no good for this job. This Preciva one was the cheapest 4 jaw crimper I could find delivered at short notice. Its a great bit of gear, seems very high quality. I intended to only use it for this one customer/job, but I'm going to use it for all ferrule work going forward. Things I like about it: +The crimped ferrule has a square cross section, much easier to insert into terminals than the C shaped section that the CK one (and all "old school" crimpers) leave. See photo for comparison. +It only has one position no matter the size of wire. My CK one has multiple slots on the die depending on what size wire you are crimping. This one is so much less faff to use, especially when dealing with multiple wire gauges in quick succession. Also stops the apprentice using the wrong size and over/under crimping one. +This Preciva one also does 0.08 to 6.0 mm, whereas my CK only does 0.14 to 2.5 mm! +The ferrules it comes with seem good quality, and the zip case is great. Nice to have it all together, and keeps the ferrules from spilling in my tool bag. +It doesn't ratchet, which is actually good in this case ,as this four jaw type requires so little pressure to crimp compared to the traditional type. Really can't fault this. I've already recommended it to my colleagues. I'm a bit peeved that my CK tools one is going to be retired, considering it was over twice the price of this one, and it didn't come with a case or ferrules! I've only had this for a week, and we have already crimped approx. 1000 ferrules with it. I'll update the review in a couple of months if I have any problems with longevity.

Good tool for the job
This is a great little set, well worth the money. I was surprised how well the crimping tool worked. The crimp tool makes an extraordinarily strong and secure connection to the cable with truly little effort. You can adjust the crimping force. However, once I tried them out, I found I was happy with the current adjustment. This kit comes with about 1200 ferrules in a range of colours and sizes within a plastic box. The tool and the box of ferules are placed in a zip case keeping everything together. Not sure how useful all the ferrule sizes are, but I found I need to buy more of the common sizes I used. The coloured plastic bits around the ferrules are easily removed if not required. Chose the correct sizes ferrule and you will find you can get the ferrule to cover the wire all the way to the insulation creating a good connection. Overall an exceptionally good tool for the job.

Nice crimper
It works awesome , I used it to crimp proprietary ferrules on a din rail distribution block on my stereo 14g or 16g in the same size ferrule they worked fine , 12g crimped with no adjustment , comes with plenty of different size ferrules , nice case , crimped all tight ,I'm very happy with the performance , one hand no problem . I'm happy , Tim T

Excellent crimping pliers at a very nice price point !
When I ordered their soldering station a short while back, Preciva was an unknown brand to me. I decided to give it a try and was quite impressed with their product. For the jobs I’m doing right now, I also needed a set of crimping pliers. There are many available at Amazon so when Preciva came up in the list again, I decided to order those and see if there were also any good. The crimping pliers arrive in a – apart from the label – very anonymous cardboard box. A sturdy one. The first thing you notice when you’re about to unpack, is the weight. It’s heavy ! And when you take the items out, you notice the weight’s entirely in the pliers, not in boxes or packaging materials. Usually this is the first sign of quality. Inside the main box are a small manual as well as two smaller boxes : a cardboard one containing the pliers and a plastic one with a nice, broad selection of crimping terminals. There are 1,200 of those, divided over 16 different sizes, 4 of which are for combining to wires into one ferrule. The pliers themselves are also packed in a bubble plastic wrap. Really, unless some delivery service employee goes completely berserk, these will arrive in perfect shape. The pliers look good. Good as in ‘quality’. I already said they felt heavy in the box and when you finally hold them into your hands, they really are ! Not uncomfortably so. No, they really feel great. The handles are made of a rubberized kind of plastic, which is nicely non-slipping. When you slightly press down on the handles, the closed pliers open very smoothly with a soft, ratchety sound. Press again and they close the same way. Four ticks total. Another (fifth) tick and they open again. When they’ve completely opened, there’s a bit of play in the mechanism. I’ve seen and used the Knipex ones and, yes, there’s a difference in that respect. But it’s really not a big deal to me if the pliers perform their job as they should. Read on to see if they did. The pliers are of the four-sided crimping type, not hexagonal. This is a matter of preference/necessity. Some terminal blocks are more suited to square, other more to hex. In the end, the terminals will get squashed by the tightening them down regardless of their shape. They can crimp ferrules between 0.08 and 16 mm², a massive difference in size ! The smallest ferrule in the 1,200 piece terminal set that comes with the tool, is for 0.5 mm² wires, and to be honest, that’s already plenty small. I wouldn’t use this quite massive, hefty tool for tinier wires. Of course, it’s comforting to know it can handle them, should the need ever arise. If you only need to crimp really small sized wires, there are other alternatives, I think. I myself only tested the ferrules in the accompanying set. The biggest diameters are typically used in industrial applications or in the home, for grounding wires. Using stranded wire, I started off with the smallest ferrule, i.e. 0.5 mm² and worked my way up size by size to 1,5 mm². The smaller sizes looked a bit rounded after pressing, as opposed to completely square, but that’s not abnormal; it’s the nature of the beast and I also saw that in the expensive competition. Adjusting the pressure alleviates this a bit. From 1,5 mm² on the pressed ferrules looked nice and square. They sometimes had a little ‘rib’ sticking slightly out, which is also not abnormal for four-sided crimping. It’s because of some space that’s sometimes present between the four jaws. Saw that with the competition as well. The pliers make five notches in the metal part of the ferrule, guaranteed to make it clamp the wire very well. When crimping thicker wires, it may be necessary to increase the pressure by turning the knob (+ and – are clearly marked). I tried to pull off several crimped terminals, big and small, but couldn’t. Now for the force that needs to be applied to close the pliers and crimp the ferrules… That’s very important since it will largely determine how pleasant the pliers are to operate intensively. Up to 6 mm² I could close them well with one hand, albeit I feel it’s gradually getting tougher. 10 mm² was harder and I needed my second hand to get the tool to close at the very end. For 16 mm² there was no question I was going to need both hands, even when adjusting the pressure. But the crimps were really good and I can’t say anything to fault them. I then tested the twin wire ferrules. Actually, compared to the single wire ones there was no difference in operation. The diameters here are obviously larger so you need more force but other than that the same. Every time, the two wires were nice and firm together in the crimp and I couldn’t pull them loose. One last thing : the instructions in the manual are written in 5 European languages but they’re very brief. Too brief even, since they forget to mention the knob for adjusting the crimping pressure, *and* the emergency quick release lever for when a ferrule would somehow get stuck. A short, firm tap on that lever will release the pressure and open the pliers. Very handy function to have ! So, that brings me to my conclusion. While Knipex is definitely a step higher up the quality ladder, these Preciva crimping pliers are fantastic value for money at a third of the price or less. If you’re a professional who’s got to use this kind of tool day in, day out, you’ll probably go for the Knipex. If, like me, you’re a hobbyist or occasional renovator, the Preciva pliers will suit you very nicely. And most of us probably won’t often be crimping 10 and 16 mm² ferrules anyway, I guess. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tool. There’s no shame in being second to the market leader in quality and function. They do their job immaculately and when you look at them or hold them, they simply ooze quality. Five stars from me.
