Expensive but Genuine OEM and Probably Worth It - Beware of Counterfeits
This is a genuine Sony NP-FZ100 battery. It's fairly expensive at £65 but probably worth it to have a good reliable battery that won't just fail prematurely, has a reliable indication of charge and is thus less likely to cause missed shots. I decided it was worth paying a full price for the genuine article, from a reliable vendor like Amazon (less risk of counterfeits). Also if you are using in a Sony a7r3 or r4 body then it avoids getting the 'nag screen' about battery being a risk etc. Much to like apart from the price. However some may prefer to pay less than 1/3 this price for 'reasonable' substitute generic cells. Some 'no-name' makes can be quite good, exhibit OK electrical characteristics and even though they likely won't work as well or last as long, still offer fair value as they can be replaced more affordably. Although low cost can offer fair value too, It's quite hard to separate reasonable quality from pure c**p cells. So unless you know a particular (usually a Chinese brand) make is good then it can be tricky business. Over many years of buying cheaper surrogate cells, for both Sony and Nikon cameras, I have never once found any that matched the OEM characteristics of Sony and Nikon branded cells. Many were OK but a few seemed to fail within 6 months and then refuse to charge, without much warning (i.e. no apparent prior trouble). Everybody has different needs and approaches to what constitutes 'fair value'. Finally I have concluded that for me, unless the OEM cells are outrageously priced, then it's probably worth stumping up the extra to buy the real thing. Worst of all situations is to try and save circa 20-40% on what seems like a good deal OEM battery and risk receiving a counterfeit cell. These will often be a lot worse than the average surrogate 'no-name brand' cells and should always be avoided. Old adage about "if it sounds to good to be true then it probably isn't" is worth bearing in mind. I have previously attempted to save a little by buying on eBay. The counterfeit cell I received was cosmetically very good and difficult to spot on appearance alone. Careful checking, weighing and in-camera diagnostics all pointed to a counterfeit so I asked for (and got) a full refund (n.b. eBay won't knowingly stand for counterfeits either, but arguably it's easier for 'dodgy' stock to find it's way to you via eBay than Amazon). Nowadays I try to only buy OEM batteries (same for memory cards too) only from a reliable UK main dealer or from Amazon (both of whom try hard to ensure their stocks are legitimate). In summary it's expensive, but once the pain of paying 'top dollar' has passed the pleasure of using reliable OEM kit persists.

Still going strong
Genuine cell, holds charge for a full ceremony and portraits on my A7-series. No weird percentage jumps. Pricey, but I’ve learned the hard way that third-party spares aren’t worth the stress.

Expensive and worth it
I prefer to have at least two batteries that are made from the same brand as my camera and then have a non brand as a emergency backup, yes you pay more but you definitely get what you pay for

Great battery, but very pricey
The battery life for this official battery is great, used on many shoots (both video and photo) and definitely worth the extra price over un-official’s. That being said, they aren’t cheap, it’s up to you if you prefer the reliability over savings. You will need a charger for this also.

Genuine and Reliable
Genuine Sony battery. Fits and works as it should. I bought third party batteries and i found they depleted so much quicker. I will only use genuine Sony batteries and this worked a treat.

Expensive, but reliable.
Whilst expensive, I have over a number of years never been let down by their batteries.

The battery is an original OEM type. only issue i had is the delivery courier which take alot of times to get the delivery delivered to my location. Advised to consider using a different courier.

as expected from a Sony branded battery. We opted for the real deal as we want it to be reliable as having a spare that doesn't work is not handy. This one does the job perfectly.
