They didn't look like they would be very effective, and the inexplicable bottle openers on the handles had a gimmicky feel to them. However, when I took them out for a test run, I was impressed by the results. They embedded themselves easily into my target, both on the broad end and the spear end. I myself have had no previous experience with throwing axes, so I can recommend them to other beginners. If I had one criticism, it would be that the protective sleeves could be better.
