They use some kind of liquid inc, which bleeds through even 32lb semigloss paper. I promptly threw them away. After years of experimentation, I found Uniball as the best Ink pens and Pentel the best gel pens. **Q: In the photo, the pens look so long and slim, but in customer's photos, they're so short and chubby; what's up with that??** A: They are NOT long and slim. The pens are a little chubby and are comparable to regular fountain and gel pen lengths. They still are excellent writing tools and provide outstanding quality results. **Q: Will a schneider topball 850 refill work with these pens?** A: Schneider topball 850 refill doesn't work for these pens. It is not suitable. **Q: Will these write on transparent sticky notes?** A: Don’t know but I would not purchase. These are more like .8 or 1.0 wide.
