Cleaner water, less servicing.Well the installation was simple.Use hot water to soak the tubing before trying to fit it on the ther connectors and it'll go on like a breeze.The unit looks really great and appears to be well made.This is quite a large unit and quite heavy.If you want help youtube is great and All Pond Solutions have their own videos there.There are also other helpful videos just do a relevant search.To sum up this is a great external filter, looks good, is unbelievably quiet (considering its size) and fantastic value for money.And, an impeller for the EF2 plus is under £8 versus a Fluval 406 impeller which is over £20.No contest.Don't think about it if you have the space , Just buy it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money *by I***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 September 2017* I am seriously impressed with this filter. This is my first external filter and wanted to plump for one with UV seeing as our pond pump has UV and works wonders.It took a while to set up but this is because I was following the instructions carefully after an earlier review had recommended doing that. I had to cut holes in the tank lid to fit the pipes but I already knew my tank didn't have large enough holes anyway.Setup was thorough and by the book but was very easy to follow. I took longer setting up the outlet fitting but this was because I'd misplaced a tiny part for it but found it still in the box so was fine. Once set up I found it difficult to prime as instructions said filter the filter 3 quarter full. I found filling it as full as I could get it meant priming was successful. I was worried about priming however we had a power cut today and found after it came back on the filter sorted itself out. And for anyone struggling to prime, double check the lid is definitely super tight and 100% gap free. I had a tiny gap I hadn't noticed round the corner back when I couldn't get it to prime the first time so after re setting the lid it worked.Getting the pipes onto the fixtures was tricky however eventually managed it.I was worried the inlet fitting was too long for my tank however, found that you don't need to use all the pipe parts so I have made mine a bit more it shorter and it works perfect. I also worried about the water flow after it got going as I have fancy goldfish which do not like fast water flow but I twisted the spray bar to face the tank wall so it seriously reduces the flow and is a perfect gentle flow now.Our tank is large but is 80 litres.. I primarily wanted something that would overly do the job as I have some Twig catfish and a Sturisoma whom are super sensitive to water quality. They appear much happier now with this new filter compared to my internal Oase one. However must stress this does NOT replace the need and frequency of water changes (frequency depends on tank size and stock levels). The filter helps keep water quality up but you still need to do water changes, I overheard someone in our local pet shop talking about this filter and how "I rarely do water changes".. unless you have a big tank with only 1 fish in, you seriously need to keep the partial water changes - this filter doesn't get rid of ammonia or nitrates - especially if, like me, you have Fancy Goldfish which are really messy sometimes.The water quality is just amazing. I had an issue with green water due to the live plants and was struggling to get it under control, hence wanting a UV filter and I have to say it has sorted the problem within hours. You can turn the UV off at the press of a button too so it's not constantly on which I love. But this has seriously sorted the green water and some algae build up but is nice as it has left some algae on the tank so my Twig Catfish and Sturisoma are very happy keeping on top of that (PS highly recommended them as tank cleaners. They can be difficult to keep it you have poor water quality and won't last 5 minutes but if, like me, you have a healthy tank which isn't overstocked and has great water then they thrive. Honestly I hardly have to do any cleaning at all).It is SUPER quiet. The only noise I can hear is the quiet air pump now which is a novelty. The filter is housed below in the cabinet so that helps too.All in all, very impressed so far and I am glad I chose this filter. Thank you APS for a great product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money *by J***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 December 2023* I've had this model for about 7 years and have only just had to replace it. I have 2 common plecos so it has been through a lot of maintenance otherwise I think it would still be going strong now. Plus I ended up with snails in the unit (long story) which I don't think helped.So when it came time to replace it, the choice was easy. I bought the exact same model.It's robust, works well and leaves crystal clear water because of the built in UV. I also like the primer on top which makes it easy to clear any blockages in the unit.Within a few hours I had crystal clear water again after having cloudy water for weeks.
