Smart control of heating systems was raised in a recent catch-up with some former work colleagues. That got me thinking. After some googling, I happened upon Tado. The reviews I saw were very positive with ease of install was a strong point. I took the plunge and ordered a wired thermostat starter kit, an add-on wired thermostat and 7 smart thermostaric radiator valves. This was to control temperatures in downstairs rooms and have the ability to turn on and off heating upstairs (second wired thermostat).Installation was effortless. The instructions for the wired thermostat were a breeze to follow. Likewise, fitting the thermostatic valves to replace the original thermostatic control units was dead easy.We've have the Tado system running for a few weeks now and are massively impressed on how well it performs. Before, we turned the heating on and off based on how hot the Living Room felt, notwithstanding having mechanical thermostatic valves on all radiators. The previous downstairs wired thermostat was at the end of the hall and unaware of air temperatures elsewhere downstairs. Often times we were enduring 25 C+ living room temperatures with an open fire and central heating both pumping in heat.Now with Tado installed, the heating is left on continuously and, thanks to the Rado smart radiator valves, the temperature is regulated to a constant, comfortable 22C. We can also turn off rooms when they are not being used with ease on the Rado app. That would not have happened in the past as it was too much hassle to go to rooms and turn the thermostatic valves to the off position.We are so impressed with its performance, that we've ordered a further 6 radiator thermostatic valves to control the upstairs radiators.Final comment - we wish we'd known about this technology before the current energy price crisis and were able to take full advantage over the past year of hight energy costs. Final final comment, our three kids are equally impressed by what they've seen and are committed to going down the same route.Can't recommend this enough.

tado° Wired Smart Thermostats. I have two wired and one wireless. The wireless is connected via the TADO bridge unit and bridge to TADO controller, which also opens hot water valve and serves a radiator zone. The two wired ones are cabled directly to my value to open and close them. I have four zones (Hot Water / Bottom floor / Middle floor / Top Floor). My two wired ones only open and close valves. Although they are on my TADO app, they are not linked to the Heating Zone / Zone Controller (Which calls the boiler), as you can only have one Thermostat linked to the Controller to call the boiler. Having more calling the boiler (via the TADO App and under Settings / Rooms & Devices / Heating Zone / Zone Controller) does not work and the (For me Zone 1 and 2) my wireless thermostat and water zone / feature on the TADO Controller fails to work anymore. My wired Tado thermostats open the valve, which when open, my boiler is called and the hot water is delivered to the radiators. If using in this manor, you should consider having at least one radiator linked to the Wired Thermostat (Via TADO / Settings / Rooms Devices / Select Wireless Thermostat and add at least one radiator). Great bit of kit that allows unlimited Zones

Sleek design so they disappear in the room but have a simple classy display when you want to check or adjust the temperature. The Tado system is great with an intuitive and informative app that offers full control of your heating system with the ability to set schedules for different zones of the house. I have 5 of these thermostats controlling my underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and it works great with radio thermostats upstairs all controlled through the same app. For a more complex setup like mine I’d recommend getting a heating engineer to set it up as some of settings had to be altered to make if all work harmoniously and required technical conversations with Tado support. Great notifications for battery health, open window detection etc and can easily be controlled by Alexa. Great product

This might be a lengthy review but hopefully will provide an insight into my less than successful experience.I took some time looking at reviews of various smart heating systems before deciding on Tado. I spent £420 on 1 smart radiator starter kit, 1 smart thermostat and 3 smart radiator valves after consulting with Tado on the best setup for my home and required usage. I retained the hot water control via my existing programmer so didn’t need the extension kit.The items are packaged in a style and branding not dissimilar to that of Apple and although are of a plastic finish seem reasonably robustThe online registration and system installation was easy and intuitive, and having a technical background I found it straightforward. I set up three zones, a living room with the smart thermostat and two smart radiator valves as recommended by Tado, a family room with 2 smart radiator valves on both radiators and 1 bedroom with a smart radiator valve. I didn’t want to invest in any more kit until I was sure that it did what Tado said it would.Connection of the internet bridge and pairing of all the components was uncomplicated as was fitting the valves, only two needed the included adapters, (on Danfoss valves.)I set the system up initially on the web interface and then downloaded the Tado App on to my iPhone. Programming the zones for different times and temperatures was simple to do either via the web interface or on the app.So with everything programmed we woke up to a cold house the next morning. The boiler had only fired for a short period. The schedule was set to warm the bedroom and family rooms before the living room which isn’t used until afternoon. Manually starting the living room by increasing the set temperature above the actual recorded temperature then enabled the other zones to warm up in line with the set-point temperatures. Thinking this might have been a one-off I left it but it did the same the next day, cold house in the morning.So it appears that the zone with the smart room thermostat in must be calling for heat before any other zone even though their smart radiator valves are calling for heat.And this is where it all goes downhill with Tado support.I tried throughout the day to call but was unable to get through, just a recording that all agents are busy and to try later (or leave a message.) So I emailed asking for help, and got a response saying that they had made changes to my system (I have no idea what, they didn’t say – and I couldn’t see any changes) to prevent the boiler short firing and not reaching full temperature on first starting and to let them know if it didn’t work. It didn’t so I replied by email but heard no more. I tried ringing but just got the same recorded message.However, they sent me a satisfaction request in dealing with the problem even though they hadn’t and still haven’t fixed it – unbelievable. I now have a response saying they are still dealing with the request for help which will take a few days more.This is not good enough Tado – I’m a new customer with a zone configuration that you recommended and it doesn’t work.Once the system does decide to start up then generally it works fine during the day although there are noticeable variations in the room temperatures before the system turns on the heating again so you can feel the temperature drop and then increase, i.e it doesn't maintain a comfortable constant temperature. You also need to check the actual room temperature with a separate thermometer agains the Tado set point temperatures and then adjust the offset on which ever device is set to monitor the room temperature.I haven’t tried the Geolocation feature yet or the relationship with Apple Homekit as I’d just like to get it working.So in summary, installation set up, programming and control in principle, very good. Functionality not so good Problem resolution and support poor.Tado if you read this I’d like a resolution please (i.d. 426017) so I can return all the items to Amazon for a refund within 30 days if you can’t fix this for me.EDIT- UPDATE.Tado have now fixed the problem remotely. I have therefore revised my rating.

We've been very happy with our Tado for almost 3 (?) years or so.We made the decision to get one because it has all the smart functionality we wanted, is easy to use, and most importantly works without calling home to Tado servers. We've connected it to Homekit, and afterwards, blocked the bridge's connectivity to Tado's servers and everything still works as expected

We are in love with Tado. The wired smart thermostat is the one that went in place of our wired combiboiler timer. This will turn the boiler on and off as needed, therefore making the rest.of the system work. Installation needs and expert gas/electrics technician. I wouldn't advise to try and do it yourself, particularly if, as it was my case, Tado was unable to provide detailed instructions for that particular boiler. Even the technician that I had to find later on struggled with it, but got it in the end. I appreciate the difficulty resided in my combiboiler (Main Combi 30 HE). My advice: pay the extra £120 for the expert installer for this component of the system.

Was worried about the installation of these as I have an upstairs and downstairs controlled system. However, the app that comes with this product allows you to select the brand you previously had installed and gives you step by step instructions on how to install the new one. it even comes with stickers to wrap around the wires so that you know which wire to install into the new system. The thermostat is a good size and very easy to manually use. The app is really easy to use and comes with loads of handy features to help us save money and keep the house warm.

Very vague product description. A variety of options, but this adds more ambiguity. There are starter kits everywhere, but those starter kits are incomplete and it becomes unclear what these different kits are for. I don't know if add on for additional room is different from starter kit. You have to improve the products, look for additional information from various sources to find out where the mistake was made and how to solve it more efficiently.As a thermostat, its main function is to regulate and optimise the temperature in a room, but in reality it is very inefficient. The system consistently overshoots by about 1.5°C, which is a significant deviation.I have been using the Tado system for three years. Initially, in the living room, both radiators were controlled individually. Because they differ in size, the temperature varied by around 1°C, which made the system ineffective. The living room was frequently overheated. Even when the temperature was set to 21°C, it would rise to 22°C or higher.Later, I combined both living room thermostats into a single control. However, the issue persists, and now the temperature overshoots by approximately 1.5°C. A similar pattern occurs in other rooms where there is only one thermostat and one radiator.I am disappointed because instead of helping to save money, the Tado system is quite expensive, and my heating costs have actually increased due to consistent overheating.

Al final me decante por comprar el sistema tado. He comprado un termostato y varias válvulas para calefactores. Su instalación es muy sencilla pero lo que mas me ha gustado ha sido el servicio de atención que tienen. En principio mi sistema no era compatible pero la comunicación con ellos es muy dinámica y me han ido respondiendo y haciendo las modificaciones que iba precisando. En definitiva, las válvulas funcionan perfectamente y no hacen ninguno de los ruidos que he leído a algunos. El tema de sus sistema web este muy bien y el tema de pago es solo si quieres que ciertas acciones sean automáticas en ved de contestar al mensaje que te aparece en el móvil. Yo tengo sin el pago y estoy muy contento. Lo he integrado a alexa sin problemas. En definitiva, muy contento.

Premetto che ho il termostato tado kit di base + 1 termostato aggiuntivo perchè ho casa a due piani con due relè separati. Scrivo questa recensione perchè ho letto alcune recensioni negative e vorrei assolutamente dire la mia sull'argomento. Uso, come detto, questo sistema da 3 anni ormai e mi sono trovato benissimo sin dal primo giorno. Mai un problema, mai una "cilecca", ho solo installato i termostati come da manuale e cambiato le batterie ai termostati una volta.Non sono un installatore e non ci capisco quasi niente di queste cose, me la cavo solo un po' con la tecnologia in generale. Inoltre ho una caldaia di vecchia generazione, quindi nulla di eccezionale. Basta avere un po' di pazienza e tutto andrà liscio. Consiglio di contattare l'assistenza prima dell'acquisto per verificare la compatibilità della caldaia e dell'impianto. A me hanno risposto in tempo reale.Infine segnalo che uso il tutto con google home e non si è mai scollegato a differenza di altri servizi da remoto simili. Non ho mai dovuto rifare il login per intenderci, come accade ad esempio per lampade cinesi e cose simili. Quindi posso dire a google di impostare la temperatura in soggiorno e i termosifoni si accendono. Oppure di regolare la temperatura ecc. Infine cosa molto comoda posso accendere i termosifoni a distanza prima di rientrare a casa per trovarla già calda.Se proprio non ve la sentite di fare tutto da soli chiamate il vs caldaista oppure fatevi aiutare un amico "smanettone". Ma fidatevi che sono prodotti ottimi.

Ich habe das erste mal meine wassergeführte Fußbodenheizung mit smarten Thermostaten ausgestattet. Da ich keine Erfahrung im Anschließen hatte, hatte ich Eingangs etwas Sorgen. Diese waren zum Glück völlig unbegründet. Das Anschließen der Theromstate ist in der App extrem gut und kleinschrittig erklärt und damit auch für Laien gut machbar.Zu den Thermostaten: vom Prinzip hervorragend, mich wundert aber die Größe. Meine alten, manuellen Geräte sind um die Hälfte kleiner und auch die Elektrik der Tado Geräte scheint nicht so viel Platz einzunehmen. Also wieso so groß? Abgesehen davon, einfach in der Bedienung, fügen sich optisch gut in den Raum ein.Zur App: Sehr aufgeräumt und übersichtlich, alle Einstellungen, die ich mir wünsche, kann ich problemlos ohne Suchen nach der Funktion vornehmen. Bin gespannt auf den ersten Energie-Report. Besonders hilfreich finde ich die Anzeige des Temperaturverlaufs, wo auch gezeigt wird, wie stark wann geheizt wurde.Gesamtfunktion: Alles super, nur eine Sache hat deutlich Verbesserungspotenzial. Wenn ich einstelle, dass ich um 8:00 21 Grad haben will, kann Tado nicht die Heizkurve meiner Heizung adaptieren. Dadurch ist es immer erst 2h später auf der Zieltemparatur. Ich dachte das bräuchte ein paar Tage, aber dem scheint nicht so zu sein bisher. Eigentlich wäre es gar nicht so schwer, die benötigte Heizkurve zu berechnen… hoffentlich wird das bald nachgerüstet.
