LaCie Mobile Drive V2 4TB — slim design, USB‑C Portable External Hard Drive, 2.5‑inch, Moon Silver, for Mac & Windows — Rescue Data Recovery included

I’ve been using LaCie drives for years and this 1TB version is a really solid option. It’s slim, lightweight, and has a nice premium feel, plus it comes plastic-free with a USB-C cable included. I use it for backing up wedding work while editing, and I find the 1TB size much easier to organise and manage compared to larger drives. Transfer speeds are good for moving large batches of photos and video, and it’s been reliable so far. It’s also a great choice for general use like backing up family photos or important files. The option for automatic backups, along with the included warranty and data recovery services, adds extra peace of mind.

I have bought several LaCie hard drives through the years and find them to be very reliable. This most recent 5TB LaCie purchase is to back up my Music and Photo libraries as the two oldest LaCies did not have sufficient storage for my ever expanding Libraries! I do not have much technological knowledge but was able to set it up from following the instructions presented in a small booklet included with the HD and check the information once the 'backups' had been completed.

Works beautifully on MacOS 15.5 but reformatted anyway to a different file system. This drive actually seems to contain an HDD rather than SDD, its presentation and text doesn’t really make that clear but still a good unit. Design is beautiful, function, speed and heat are all acceptable and price is good for a nicely designed drive. Why did you choose this product over others?: LaCie brand and design

Excellent hard drive and the USB C means no fiddling around connecting to it. Nice design and so far haven't had any failures with the brand over the years.

Quiet, easy to set up, super slim design, no problems encountered

I bought this drive to transfer data from an old Mac that had stopped working. It took the data transfer then we brought it back from the repair shop and it promptly failed, making a grinding noise, as soon as I tried to download the data. Lacie (Seagate) offered to transfer the data to a new hard drive but at that stage I know I’ve had data loss so I’ve had to go back to the repair shop and pay another 150 quid to get the data transferred again on a different drive. After this experience I won’t buy another hard drive like this. I’ve had my money returned from Amazon (who let us keep the drive so we can destroy it for data security). I’ve bought a solid state replacement and I wish I had bought this in the first instance.

Easy to you’d, working well on PC and Mac.

Very pleased with my purchase. The instructions are very clear and once I had connected the device to my Mac it led me through the necessary set up. I have originally bought My Passport device, but I found that the setup on this machine wasn’t as clear. Highly recommended.

Invariablement, j’utilise LaCie. La connexion avec le MacBook a été immédiate et parfaite. La vitesse est très bonne (et j’utilise un long câble). Très haut niveau de satisfaction. Une remarque : j’ai aussi le modèle avec la protection orange et je dois dire que celui-ci me donne une plus grande sensation de sécurité, d’« incassabilité ». Cela dit, je ne suis pas exposée à des risques habituellement (pas d’enfants, pas de boissons sur la table de travail et les transports lors des voyages ne sont pas très fréquents). J’ai acheté le modèle en question parce qu’il y avait une différence de prix notable dans l’offre, et aussi pour éviter toute confusion avec l’ancien. Sur ce point, je devrai faire l’expérience pour voir si j’ai pris la bonne décision. Mais toujours chez LaCie, sans aucun doute.
