She digs into details that will equip Christians to counter some of the most common objections to Theism and Christianity without getting too detailed thereby avoiding a forcing of the learner beyond a laymen's understanding or expertise to a place they couldn't defend without advanced degrees. I appreciated how the book begins with the assumption that the reader may not believe in God and ends with giving great confidence in the truths of the Christian faith. It does seem more designed for the church going Christian or church going questioner. She altogether avoids some of the higher controversies (that you can get wrapped around for months) which I think is very appropriate for its intended audience. In short this book is perfect for what it was designed to do: Teach others to defend Christianity. I'd personally give it the nickname: "Teach the EVERYMAN to defend Christianity." I'd recommend it for small groups who are learning together as it has questions for reflection at the end of each chapter and is essentially a 6 week/6 chapter program.Some of the things I appreciated the most: Her treatise on the Cosmological Argument in Chapter 1 is a bit unique from what I've read elsewhere and is highly effective in making the case for God. Also, her Chapter 5 is one of the most concise one chapter arguments I've ever seen on the validity of the New Testament. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, but not what I thought it was *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 27, 2020* I thought this would be more of pedagogy or teaching tools. It's more of a synopsis of apologetics in a lesson plan format. The logical progression of one lesson to the next, from "yes, there is a God," to "God is knowable," to the God of the Bible, to Jesus Christ is good.But a studied apologist isn't going to get much from the book.It's a good book, but it wasn't written for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Apologetics for beginner to expert! *by B***A on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 1, 2016* Cathryn Buse has written a valuable resource for Christians just starting to learn how to defend the faith: The Cosmological, Teleological, and Anthropological Arguments as well as the Validity of the New Testament, Jesus, and The Resurrection . At same time, Christians who have studied to, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.." 1 Pe 3:15 will not be disappointed. Of course, the winsome tone of the book, is how I imagine Ms. Buse to present the facts and arguments in the book. The sincere Christian will always remember that the "person-made in the image of God", is much more important than winning an argument! So, if a sincere "seeker" has a question and you need a little help.
