We have a cable internet with max 100mbps. Is it worth it to add this router which is faster than our internet speed?

This wouldn't help improve your internet speeds which would be capped at your ISP's 100mbps. However, if you have a local NAS or play games over your lan, etc... it could potentially help all of your local network traffic that doesn't have to go out to the internet. So unless you're doing something that needs high speeds on your local network (like a NAS), then you would probably be better off buying previous gen routers which are more established, offer more features, and will ultimately cost you less. These previous gen routers would still be able to max out your 100mbps internet, but would cost you significantly less.

Since the 802.11ax spec is yet to be finalized, will Asus provide the firmware update to meet the finalized standard?

I agree that ASUS will support it unless hardware prevents it. I bought my RT-AC68U in 2014 and the most recent firmware update is from June 11, 2020.

Can i eliminate the "lifetime security by trend micro" cr@pware feature? i reall don't want anyone else scanning my traffic.

That is not how it works. No one "Scans your Internet traffic". What happens is a kind of filter gets loaded into the router and the router scans. The "lifetime service" only provides updates to the filter.

how to do you release internet provider DHCP?

Well for Verizon router at least, you can go to the the router webpage address of the router and enter the login credentials based on the back of the router. In network settings you release/expire the Verizon router and use your own Asus router, but remember to go to the Verizon app and click the button "use my own router"to say you will use your own router from now on. If you don't, you will still be billed Verizon renting router price monthly.
