The ventilation holes in the lower windshield are turned to face the wind to increase the oxygen supply to the burner. If the wind becomes too strong, the stove is turned to maintain the required flame. The Trangia spirit burner runs on alcohol based fuels such as methylated spirits which are low cost, safe and readily available. The combined frying pan/lid can be put on top of the pan to speed up heating and save fuel. The stove stands stable, with the pan on the supports recessed into the upper windshield. The supports are turned upwards when the frying pan is used. The Trangia stove can also be used with a gas, multi-fuel or gel burner, which all can be found in the Trangia range of accessories. Chosing the right Trangia stove Which size? Trangia 25 Series (3-4 person). All have 2 pans (1.5L and 1.75L), a 22cm frying pan, upper and lower windshields, a burner, a pan handle and strap. Trangia 27 Series (1-2 person). All contain 2 x 1L pans (1 graded, 1 ungraded), an 18cm frying pan, upper and lower windshields, a burner, a pan handle and strap. With or without a kettle? It's made to the same very high Trangia standard and it does have some discolouration inside after much use...I believe it is normal for aluminium to discolour over time. Not anything to worry about though! Review: It’s a kettle, it fits a my trangia, it boils water - Love it as it fits my trangia set up, was carrying a separate kettle but went for this and glad I did. You can make more room for it by taking out one of the pots but it I haven’t. It’s well made trangia quality, light and tiny! Carefully, on a small burner or even a camping stove. Make sure the handle is erect! **Q: would the smallest size be suitable for over a fire? e.g. on a trivet or grill?** A: Yeah, sure will, it's not as small as it looks in the photos, it's not so big that you wouldn't want to carry it in your ruck/day sack. It's good for a good sized mug of hot water. I've been using one for years, the only reason i got a new one recently was because a rock fell on my last one! I couldn't recommend anything better than Trangia kit, yes it is a bit more expensive, but you sure get your miles out of it! I think it’s about 600ml of water so not quite two cans of soda pop, perfect for two 👍 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tiny, inessential, but takes up little space *by M***Y on 16 May 2020* I bought this to go with my Trangia 27. I already have a 1.6l travel kettle (pictured) but it's an awkward fit with the 27 and it has to be packed separately. The Trangia kettle on the other hand fits inside one of the 27's pots, and with the handle turned down the Trangia packs down into its usual size. Even with the burner inside the kettle there's still enough space inside for some 3-in-1 coffees and/or teabags. Good stuff? It feels robust. It's tiny and lightweight and it makes for a cute talking point. It holds enough for two standard cups of tea if you fill it to the brim and carefully pour it out, or one-and-three-quarter cups if you're worried about boiling water splashing everywhere. There's no whistle, but this isn't really an issue with a meths-burning stove (you're not likely to leave it unattended!). I found that the water tasted slightly odd, probably because of the meths, but it's not camping unless the water tastes odd. On the downside an extra pot is more versatile than a single-purpose kettle, although on a psychological level it feels wrong to make coffee with water boiled in a pot. Carrying a larger kettle isn't all that much of a bother because it's hollow. As mentioned in other reviews the interior tarnishes in an odd-looking way after the first boil, but this is apparently harmless. I don't know if it's deliberate or a result of buying the kettle separately, but the spout stops it sitting snugly inside the 27's pots. It fits, but it looks as if it should fit better. Still, they're picky complaints.
