An excellent product
I mainly cut brambles and similar vegetation.. I had a bump head that constantly jammed. I’ve also tried a metal blade but that suffered if it hit rocks and it does not mulch the cuttings, so I had to remove them to leave a tidy job. I also tried a Stihl DuroCut head, which is similar to the Jet Fit but does not take the excellent Oregon Techni Blade line. The Jet Fit is easily the best. It’s easy to change the lines and it works very well on tough brambles with 7mm Techni Blade line. It mulches up the cuttings well, so I don’t bother to remove them, which saves a lot of time compared to a metal blade. Some reservations. The 7mm Oregon Techni Blade line that I use on brambles lasts pretty well but is really expensive. I am reluctantly prepared to bear the cost for the convenience. For grass or light vegetation cheaper line would probably be fine. Inevitably, about half the length of each pre-cut line is wasted because some of it is inside the head and when the line gets very short it needs to be changed. With a bump head, in theory, all the line is used. So maybe it is not so good from an environmental perspective. The fitting instructions are practically non-existent. I’m not sure if I have it correctly attached but it works. The packaging involves a huge amount of plastic and is ridiculous. There is no indication of how to open it and it seems to be impossible to do so without breaking it.

Simple and easy to use. Deals with absolutely everything form thick brush to grass - A brilliant all round strimmer head!
I don't know about you, but I hate the bump heads that most strimmer manufacturers supply as standard. They are always playing up, re-spooling with is a nightmare and they are just more trouble than they are worth! I wanted a strimmer head that was easy to use and had a simple system for changing the chord. This Oregon Jet-Fit is absolutely brilliant! It is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle working out how to fit the head, there are several different sized washers and it is just a case of trial and error. There are no instructions. See the video for how I fitted it to my Honda strimmer. In all fairness it is not difficult to sort out. The manufacturer states that it will fit almost all makes and models. This is the second Jet -Fit head I purchased, the first was returned because I wanted to use the thickest Flexiblade (4mm) and the head that I ordered would not take 4mm. So be careful when ordering as there is very little information on the pages as to the size of Flexiblade these heads will accommodate. I have a large area of scrub to clear, some of it very thick. I have been using the Oregon Brushcutter Blade very successfully, but this is a metal blade and is not very practical for general strimming. It keeps striking rocks and stumps under the scrub and strimming up to walls and fences is difficult, with the Jet-Fit this is not a problem. So now that I have moved on to an area that requires scrub and general strimming activities I need a head with strimmer chord. The Jet-Fit deals with the thick scrub, see the video, but it does tend to wear out the Flexiblade quickly on the very thick stuff. On the video the scrub was just thick and there was not an issue with the Flexiblade chord. I absolutely love the Jet-Fit it deals with everything with ease. Changing the chord is very quick and easy. It is a joy to use. One thing I did notice is that the description says it is supplied with 3mm and 4mm Flexiblades. I bought a spool of 4mm flexiblade and it is way thicker than the blades supplied. I have been using the spool not the supplied blades. The Flexiblade is very hard and you need to decide whether you want to buy a spool and snip it (which is a little difficult for the 4mm) or buy the pre-cut lengths. I would advise you to get some flexiblades with the head if you decide to get it as it only comes with 2 precut lengths of each diameter. If you are looking for a good all round strimmer head for a number of different tasks, this is the head for you. I would suggest going for the 4mm flexiblade if you are intending to strim thick brush. I do not think you will be disappointed with this product.

Very good system -buy extra line at the same time.
This system is very good, there are a lot of pros and a few cons, so overall I am pleased with the product. If you are going to purchase the head, i would suggest purchasing extra flexiblade line at the same time, as whilst very good, the line is not as durable as it would appear from the advertising. Pros: *It should fit to any strimmer that is capable of taking a cutting blade, so ultimately brushcutters etc. *the head is very light (well made) so spins very quickly, which means gentle revs are fine. *The line change system is excellent and certainly a welcome change from old bump feed systems etc. Very quick and easy to use. *line makes an excellent cut. Cons: *the line is not as durable as would appear. If you are strimming up against rocks/hard surfaces you will wear the line out quite quickly. I would suggest buying additional rolls of line at time of check out (you will be back quickly to do this anyway!). *fitting is not very well explained, but when done it is fairly simple, you just have to trial and error until you are able to lock down the new head with appropriate spacer (supplied) and nut (supplied). Remember it locks anti clockwise.

Worth buying....so much easier than bump and release spool mechanisms
I bought this to attach to my new Honda UMK42E. I was sick of 2-stroke motors and crappy bump and release spool mechanisms. I bought this largely on the strength of the reviews on this Site. I think the only negative review I saw was from a professional gardener who took issue with the waste and cost. I am not a professional. I don't care if there is a little extra cost as long as I never have to spool another strimmer line onto another reel.....life is too short. I just tried this out the other day for the first time. In short it was fantastic. Fitting it was extremely simple. My strimmer came with some connections suitable for attaching a brush cutter and, importantly, the nut which secures the device to the drive shaft. I guess there are so many variations we cannot expect Oregon to provide this. But still if you don't have all the bits and bobs to connect a brush cutter you may be faffing around having to find a nut that fits. In operation it is brilliant. I cut for 40 minutes using the same two 4mm lines. It cut through brambles, nettles and tall grass. Even the tall grass doesn't get wrapped around the shaft (although that is probably as much to do with the Honda attachments as anything else). After 40 minutes the lines had reduced by about 40%, so I replaced them in 20 seconds! I cant believe that all strimmer's don't come with this mechanism.

- Sizing and fitting the line is a fine balance. Cut the line too short
I've used this head for 12 months now, on a 27cc stihl brushcutter, and have done a lot of work with it on everything from short grass to thick weeds and patches of bramble, and have found it has it's pros and cons. Pro's - When it works, the push fit system does save a lot of time and effort - The serrated line that this head seems to be built for is very hardwearing, and can tackle thick growth along with bramble patches etc with ease. - The unit is reassuringly well built and can take the abuse that comes from being worked hard. - It can be dismantled, which helps as sometimes the little springs that push against the tab that grips the line get pushed out of place if you're a little rough in inserting the line. Also, it benefits from cleaning the inside occasionally. Cons - If you've used the same bit of line for an extended period, it seems to 'weld' itself to somewhere inside the head, making it extremely difficult / impossible to push / pull out the old line when you need to replace it. I carry a small set of pliers in my pocket for this purpose. - The bit of line sticking out of the exit hole can sometimes wear itself down so that it's recessed in the unit itself. Coupled with the problem above, cue 20 minutes of turning the air blue while trying to coax it out with a pair of mini pliers. I now also carry an allen key with me to be able to take the unit apart as a last resort. - Sizing and fitting the line is a fine balance. Cut the line too short, and it's not really effective. Cut it overlong, it goes flying out of the head. Likewise if you leave too much line sticking out of the exit hole. To summarize, it's a good product when it's working, the line it takes makes short work of thick vegetation and even brambles, it will even tackle the occasional small branch / sapling (to a limit!), but it's a complete pain when things go wrong with it as it can take a lot of time to correct. I'm going to be returning to my old reliable tap and go head for everyday strimming, and fitting this product as and when I need it.

This is the best strimmer head I've used for easy
This is the best strimmer head I've used for easy, rapid line replacement. I've used it at work on projects to clear invasive weeds and on our smallholding to clear and maintain overgrown areas we're bringing in to cultivation and found it very hard to beat. The Flexiblade line which goes with is really hard wearing and unless you hit rocks or hard wood it will last for ages. Carry long nosed pliers to pull the used line through the head. The wastage of line which is a minor issue's a trade-off for the efficiency which the product offers. Line waste can be reduced and the life of the line extended by reversing it as you go about the job, it takes seconds. 100% tried and tested with both high and lower powered machines in all terrain and weather conditions, smashes bracken and new growth in brambles, use a blade for hard plant growth but it will knock down small thorns and older stands of brambles if you're prepared to use more line. A clever, well designed quality product.

... a professional gardener I thought this would be a great product to use
As a professional gardener I thought this would be a great product to use, however be warned. In principle the simple threading of line is a great idea but in practice it has two major draw backs. Firstly two thirds of the line is waste because a third is inserted into the head and once you are down to the second third of cutting line you need to change the line as it becomes totally inefficient. In essence throwing two thirds of expensive Flexiblade away is ridiculous, but that is what you will do. Secondly if the exit line disappears into the head and you cannot push the other end through you will need to take the head apart which is both time consuming and again totally ridiculous. I will be going back to a standard strimmer head which is far more efficient and does not waste the volume of line this head does. If you want to waste your valuable time and money buy this head. If you have a brain avoid like the plague, in my opinion this is a really bad purchase. I have been gardening professionally for nearly 20 years heed my words avoid the 'Jet fit' and stick to a regularly strimmer head.

Super Artikel. Ein muss für jeden Gartenpfleger
Super Teil.
