Monkey Needs to Listen offers a gentle introduction to the concept of paying attention for young children. A lively picture book that examines the issue of not listening in an amusing but reassuring way through animal characters - perfect for young children who forget to listen. The story offers a gentle way in to reinforce this good behaviour. At the end of the story there are notes for parents and teachers with suggestions of ways to help children learn why paying attention is important. Monkey is so excited about a go-kart race that he doesn't listen to any of the instructions. He doesn't stop to check his kart and he nearly ruins the race for all the animals. Can Monkey learn to listen and pay attention or will the race be abandoned for good? It is part of a series Behaviour Matter s, which is perfect for sharing with children as a gentle means of discussing their emotions, boosting self-esteem and reinforcing good behaviour. Each book has a fun story featuring fantastic characters which is backed up by suggestions for activities and ideas to talk through together. They support the Personal, Social and Emotional Development Area of Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Suitable for age 3+. 'Excellent for sharing and encouraging discussion... we can all learn from the approach taken in this series.' Parents in Touch Review: Behavior Matters Series - Delightful and well thought out story by a highly qualified author that illustrates why its important to understand or control certain behaviours that some young children struggle with at times. Also easy to follow with some extra discussion - my daughter really responded to these books and her teacher even borrowed the set for class story time too. Review: Lovely Behavioural Book for Lively Tots - This was the second in the series purchased for my grandson who was having trouble paying attention and listening to instructions. He loved this book and liked to have it read to him several times over at bedtime. I only have to say the word "monkey" and he immediately sits up and listens. It really works. Would recommend.

What a gem these books are
Both grandsons looked through the book straight away. The older one ( 5 yrs) even took it in the car when taking nana home. The younger grandson (4 yrs) browsed through it with me ( saving it for proper reads at bed time). When I asked him if Monkey reminded him of anyone he told me Monkey was just like him. So he could relate to the character well and liked the humour and expressions on Monkeys face. For a boy with ADHD and another with Autism, these stories will get through better than anything so far

A Fun Lesson in Listening!
This adorable monkey story is the perfect antidote for little ones who forget to listen. With silly mix-ups, and a sweet message, it shows how paying attention can save the day. Kids laugh, learn, and maybe even start using their “listening ears” a little more!

It has big colorful playful artwork along with suggested talking points for children to discuss.
I loved the story of monkey who need to listen and pay attention to his teacher Mr. Croc. It kept my son engaged and helped him to see how not listening impacts others.
