X5 (Multi-Buy Deal) UPVC Window Restrictor Hook. Child Lock Restrictor Safety Catch

Great product and very easy to install.

Some basic installation instructions would have been helpful but these restrictions are not too difficult to install.I fitted them to top hung openers (brand new Rehau uPVC framed windows) and once I figured out the best method I probably spent longer moving the ladder between windows than the actual fitting.Contrary to another reviewers advice to fit the stud first, I fitted the sprung arm first (to the casement). With that in place, there really was only one place for the stud to go, as the arm is then indicating the studs position - and that was the easy bit as the stud is fitted from inside.Your experience with non uPVC window, side openers or those without the “Euro slot” may be different.Although all my windows are the same, 4 of the five will need packers behind the stud to ensure the arm engages consistently - a job for next weekend. I noted (after the event) that another site sells a similar product complete with packers. It was be nice if this seller did that as many reviewers have found this an issue. Having said that, the supplied packers from the other site are of one size which may cause issues if clearance is tight.Whilst the material of these restrictors seems sturdy enough, I didn’t consider them a premium product and there is a far amount of slack in the sprung arm - this doesn’t help with engaging with the stud and hence the need for packers. The supplied screws do the job well despite them being fairly fine threaded - I would have expected a somewhat coarser thread. I piloted all holes before fitting the screws.It seems very easy to open the restrictors from the outside but as they are fitted to upstairs windows and it is unlikely we would leave the house with the main windows open, I don’t consider that a major issue.Overall, they work and should keep Building Control happy.I will also be recommending them to my brother-in-law who has a similar need with side hung windows.

Well packaged arrived quickly quality is good. Stops the windows blowing open.

Good product but hard to fit as there are no instructions with product. I paid a trades man to do it but the window would not close. I took them off fitted them myself.My instructions. Part 1 stud. Part two security arm1 Fit stud to the open window.2 Place the hook on the security arm on the stood keep the base of the security arm parallel the fixed window frame.3 Gently close the window holding the security arm hook on the stud.4 Where the base of the security arm lands is where you screw it in.5 screw in one screw at a time on the security base when one screw is in place gently close the window to see the resistor will close smoothly. If it won't pivot the security base ( one screw screwed into it) back towards the window frame slightly.5. Spray resistor with wd 40.6. Tighten screw in base won t window is closing smoothly.Not very technical instructions but using then I fitted 3 resistors in 15 mins

These are great value and easy to fit. They are great for keeping windows at a safe opening and safe when grand kids are staying.

Be very careful when buying this product. I bought six to secure our windows as we have two very small children in the house who like to climb. There are no fitting instructions provided with the product. The video on the seller's website on installation does not actually show you how to install them - its just a video of the locks. There are videos online that do however, so with some research it seemed a very simple task. I marked it all up , used a bradawl to ensure a good hold for the screws through the UPVC, and started to fit the first lock. Then crack... the window frame shattered. Yes, in my 3-yo son's bedroom, at height. There are no warnings on this product stating that the frame depth needs to be checked or could potentially be an issue (its a standard upvc double glazed frame). The screws were too long, went through the frame to the window pane. I now have the cost, effort, stress and disruption of having the glazing replaced. I'm sending them all back. I'm so disappointed, and as you can imagine a bit angry.
