You can either adjust them so that strong adult fingers can still open them - or tighter still, needing a tool to open them. They are probably strong enough that the wood holding the screws will fail before they do. I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not - ideally, if someone is going to break in - I'd rather that they broke something that is cheap and easy to replace. This window lock is still good quality and very easy to fit. **Q: Will the locks work on fan lights?** A: I have not tried to use the Yale locks on fan lights. However if you can fix one part on the window and one on fame and they line up correctly they should work. Might be a bit difficult to fit becausue of the angle and the height you may be working at. The illustration shows the lock open, with two screw holes showing. When the lock is closed the screws are covered by the bracket on the right which swivels over them. Turning the key locks the bracket in place.
