School for Violin Technics – Complete Edition by Henry Schradieck is an essential and comprehensive method book for violinists dedicated to refining their technique, enhancing finger agility, and mastering the foundational scale studies necessary for advanced violin playing. This edition, part of the Schirmer Library of Musical Classics, brings together Books 1-3 of Schradieck's legendary violin exercises, along with complete scale studies, all in one affordable and highly accessible volume. Designed for violin students, teachers, and accomplished players alike, this collection focuses on developing critical skills such as finger dexterity, bow control, and tone production—fundamental elements for building a strong, expressive violin technique. Schradieck’s exercises have long been recognized as a cornerstone of classical violin training, and this complete edition provides a structured path for technical improvement, whether for daily warm-ups, refining existing skills, or preparing for professional performances. Perfect for those seeking to hone their technique and achieve a higher level of proficiency, School for Violin Technics – Complete Edition is an indispensable tool for building the precision and skill necessary for a successful violin career. Whether you're using it as a daily practice guide, a method for concert preparation, or a reference for technical mastery, this book offers invaluable instruction that will elevate any violinist’s playing. Review: Very handy - Schradieck is "industry standard" violin instruction. Highly recommended. A little tedious to go through, but it teaches you about better, more relaxed left-hand positioning which is of course totally essential for improving skill. I find the chromatic scales particularly useful, and also introducing the higher finger positons (4th, 5th, 7th etc). Review: Technique in one week - I am professional violinist, and i recommend the schradieck school to any who want to improve: confidence of finger technique reaction ( both for fast playing and fast note reading ) The quality of notes are much better than the one from imslp.

Amazing book
5 star for the book - my son is taught by Suzuki method, but I hire him teachers outside Suzuki during the school holidays. One of the teachers recommended Schradiek to help relax his left hand, which he hated then. A year later, whilst practicing Can Can as part of his chamber orchestra at school, he asked me to buy him Schradiek as he understood how much it helped him in past. Bingo! 3 star for delivery though - it was packed in unnecessarily large box, and despite all the protective layers the book still came bent.

Essential purchase
Since the time I have incorporated the studies into my practice routine (has been around 6 months now), I have noticed a major improvement in my intonation and left-hand dexterity. The exercises have to be practised very slowly in the beginning. It requires some patience but the payoff is worth it. I do not see why this should not be a part of the practice routine of any serious violin learner. No complaints with the binding or the print.
