Review: A great mat - So is it any good ?? Without any shadow of a doubt a resounding yes , I have a project carbon debut deck ,rotel RA04 amp and B&W speakers And the sound is vastly improved i guess it is soaking up any vibration that can transmit through the platter ... The project deck does come with a very flimsy felt mat 1.5 mm thick So this might not improve sound quality on all equipment but it certainly has made a substantial difference on this one , it is also easier to brush any dust or debri off it as nothing sticks to it As for reducing static i see no change in that respect , its well worth the money Mine was deliverd in a sturdy envelope with do not bend stamped on it So arrived dead flat , so to Cap this review a top quality product ..

Overall Nice modest upgrade that makes the sound more enjoyable, The woollen slip mat that is standard with the P3 rega turntable is ok but I can hear a difference with the fonotek. **Q: Can this be used to replace an old rubber slipmat on a jvc jl-a1 - or ca it just be placed on top of it if i adjust my tonearm etc?**
A: Either really, its a matter of what you think sounds better.  You would need to make sure you can adjust your tonearm's VTA sufficiently to accommodate the the extra thickness if you are going to use it on top of an existing mat.

**Q: How supportive is this? Would it provide stability playing 12"vinyl on 9" turntable ?**
A: I don't think so. The mat is pretty flexible and I doubt it's thick enough to provide any supporr beyond the edge of the 9 inch platter.

**Q: Does this reduce static build up on the at-LP60?**
A: Hi Kieran, I actually have an AT-LP 120, and buy it for reducing platter vibrations, but I also noticed some electrostatic reduction, specially when cleaning vinyls. Now dust stays on brush with no effort, and no more on vinyl. I think it's due to this kind and quality of materials that had been cleverly used. I hope Fonotek will also produce something for the back of platter, just like the one of Technics SL-1200. I hope I've been helpful.

**Q: Plagued by static especially with 180g vinyl does this mat reduce static**
A: No. I didn't keep mine for very long. Static was just as bad plus it smells a bit and gives off dust like tiny particles of cork and rubber. I splashed out on an acrylic platter and I love it. No static and it looks really good plus it's easy to clean the very little dust it does get.

### ⭐ useless. No amount of record clamp will compensate for ...

I did not realise that this item did not have a recess for the label area of a record, therefore if you have a a disc that is not flat it will not sit on the mat, it just spins on the spindle, useless. No amount of record clamp will compensate for this rendering many of my old 70's albums unplayable.
