I bought the shorter ones first and they broke going thru a car wash last year. These are much better and do not notice any clipping noise. **Q: Can they be painted to match body color?** A: They are plastic and shouldn’t take much prep work to paint. They make a ton of wind noise though. Our soft top jl 2018 will not support these. Therefore, double-sided tape and adhesive are not required. However, it feels a little tight to the rail, and there is a concern that the mounting part will crack due to deterioration over time or due to climate.add commentsI found one problem after using it over time. The part that covers the A-pillar is in a floating state, so if you drive for about 60 miles, the wind pressure will interfere with the A-pillar and generate noise. Therefore, it can be installed simply by inserting it into the rail, but it is uncomfortable to put some cushioning material on the surface that contacts the A pillar or fix the part that contacts the pillar with double-sided tape, and suffer from noise of unknown cause.
