This works like magic! My 18mo refused to put the toothbrush in his mouth so I desperately looked for creative solutions. On the first page of this book he was so excited to brush his teeth that now this book is a treat, as well as brushing teeth! We read it twice so it takes more than 2 min and he is brushing all the time! This really works!!

My 17 month old needed a little motivation for brushing her teeth. After a few weeks the Elmo "Brushy Brush" song wasn't cutting it, so we needed a new tactic, so we bought this book. Pros: - My daughter definitely liked it. She would actually brush her teeth on her own while imitating the illustrations - It's a quick and easy read - Goes along to a tune Cons: - After a week or so, my daughter was over it (yay for toddlers!) - The book is so short you have to read it a few times - The song is incomplete which is kind of weird because it's suggested that you read it to the tune of "Do your ears hang low" but literally ends before the verse ends. All in all, it was a good tool to use, even if it was for a short time. We'll probably take it out again in the future as a "new" book to see if it still engages her in brushing her teeth. It's not a horrible buy, but don't expect it to work miracles!

Purchased for my 1 1/2 yr old granddaughter who did not want to brush her teeth at all. Cute book and sing song lyrics. We would sing the book to her while brushing her teeth and eventually it helped her calm down allow her teeth to be brushed.

My initial reaction to the book was disappointment in myself for not looking carefully enough at what I was ordering. I thought that it was an awkward song and bland pictures without any storyline that would convince kids to brush their teeth, but I'd already bought it and didn't feel like returning. I showed my toddler and stumbled through the song. She liked it. She picked that book off the bookshelf multiple times in the coming days. Days later during our daily wrestling match to attempt to brush her teeth, I tried singing the song... and she calmed down. A fluke? A coincidence? I tried again the next day, and she calmly stood while I brushed her teeth and sang this stupid song. She still tries to bite the toothbrush a bit, but the screaming wrestling matches are gone. I don't know why this book is so magical for toddlers, but I appreciate it!

The book is alright. My just-turned-two-year-old boy likes it okay. Likes making the "faces like a fish" for the rinse and spit part. And it's fun to sing. All fine and good. But did nothing to actually get him to cooperate with any attempt at brushing teeth. So instead I came up with "Teeth Brushing Game." Real simple. I let him brush my teeth while I count down from ten (yes, with the brush in my mouth, LOL). Then he goes, "Aaaaaaah" while I brush his for a count of ten. So long as you keep it fun, it works (funny faces help). And I pause on the current number if he closes his mouth ("Three… ee… ee… ee…" etc.). Can even get multiple rounds in sometimes. But don't force it if your little one ain't in the mood. Making it a chore will kill it quicker than you can say "cavities." And the first time around, you'll need an accomplice to show how it's done — the other parent, if available, or a trusty friend/older kid if you're soloing. And always heap praise at a successful go of it. I always tell him he won, LOL. Anyway, the book is fine. Normalizes teeth brushing. But don't expect it to work a miracle without innovation.

My daughter is obsessed with this book. I hear it when the book is no where to be found because she has remembered every single word. She just turned two. We bought this book because we borrowed it from the library and bawled her eyes out when we had to return it.

My little girl will not let me brush her teeth, she likes to try and do it herself, she is very indepedant. She loves reading so I bought this book to try and encourage her to brush her teeth like a big girl and to let Mummy help. My little girl is thrilled with the book and it seems to be working. Great help!

This book has influenced my son (2y/o) about brushing his teeth. His behaviour towards toothbrushing changed drastically after we read him this book. Since then, he would do it alone and he had learned to spit out the water into the sink. It has encouraged him to be independent, but of course as we know young toddlers can't do tasks properly so I repeat the process once his attention is diverted to playing the water.
