Would this work on metal rivets on a leather bag ?

If the rivets are silver plated yes, if steel, stainless or nickel probably not - for those I would use a more aggressive cleaner like Brasso or a household stainless steel cleaner. Whatever cleaner you would need to protect the leather from staining. If the rivets are rusty you could try application of white vinegar and let it soak as that is good at removing rust from steel, again protecting the leather may be a problem.

I don't find the smell of this product overpowering or unpleasant, unlike the silver cream polish which has a very strong smell. This polish foam is so much easier and cleaner to use than the polish cream, and lasts longer.
