Holts Sealit Leak Repair 250ml, (Packing May Vary)

*UPDATE* This has gone for thousands of miles and still no need to top up water or oil. Completely fixed. Very happy. The car is 19 years old - getting the head for less than a tenner before it was almost a grand has been amazing. Cannot recommend this more. Was going to buy another today (another car) but there's a minimum order of five right now, and I don't need that many... Unfortunate but I'll go to my local motor factors instead. I tried Wynne's coolant system seal and it didn't do the job - it's supposed to be as good as RadWeld Plus. I didn't want to bother with RadWeld Plus as my coolant went down disturbingly quickly. I've had a head gasket problems in Astras before, and I was worried it was that. No obvious leaks anywhere, and only going down when it's running. This has been in for a good few hundred miles and a couple of weeks and it's not gone down one bit! Literally drop it in and run the engine, no special timing or anything... Very impressed, and a great price.

I had a slight leak from a union on the inlet manifold, I thought I would give this a go before I remove the manifold. So far so good, no leaks and I also had a slight one on the header tank and that is sealed as well. I would recommend to give it a go...

Context - Steam/White vapour from the exhaust and losing coolant, overheating after about 45min - 1 hour. Looked like a head gasket problem. After trying Wynn's radiator stop leak I thought I'd give this a go, it's supposed to be stronger stuff. It worked. How I did it was let the engine warm up a bit first (but not too hot) with heating on and valves open, then poured into the header tank (1.6 petrol 2007). Then after 5 mins, there were still a few drips of coolant, so took it out for around 15mins on back roads, giving it up to 5-6000 revs before changing up and making sure there was plenty heat coming in (heater still on). Got back and with the engine still running and heater still on checked again and seemed to be no more drips. Topped up the coolant when the engine was cold and the GF started it with heating on and no white smoke/vapour from the exhaust and no drips. Long story short - It worked but had to put plenty of heat into the engine and still early days yet so yet to see how permanent it is (unable to tell how long it will last is the only reason for missing fifth star).

Noticed the coolant levels on my car would drop over time indicating a small leak in the system somewhere. Not visible however! Product easy to apply (straight into the coolant tank) and now no further issues with the coolant levels decreasing. Does the job.

Delivery to Germany was faster than expected. Holts Sealit did not work in my car. Opel Astra F Engine: X16SZ. Pressure and bubbles in cooling system. No improvement to detect after usage of Holts Sealit. Caused by this, it is sad situation for me.

Car model Mercedes S320 CDi started losing considerable amount of water while driving. Garage charged £40 to investigate and quoted £600 to repair the 'Gasket leak' on the Water pump. They advised me not to use the sealant to fix the problem so i was a bit reluctant but faced with the big cost on relatively old car I decided to use the one which specifically mentions Gaskets on it. Others don't. I followed the instructions and to my pleasant surprise, it immediately fixed the problem. then i made a 200 mile journey with no loss of water.. its been there for two weeks now. don't know how long it will lost but it has helped me. I normally don't give 5 stars to any item because in my opinion nothing is ever deserving of a perfect score. On this occasion considering the Cost of repair in money and time, I think at this time i can afford to give 5 stars to this product considering all the discouragements. don't know how long it will last. will revisit the stars if it started leaking.

Use this at your own risk. Brought this to seal small head gasket leak. Followed the instructions to the letter. This stuff clogged everything up. Distroyed my thermostat and heater matrix and almost Distroyed my water pump. It part clooged my radiator. Wish had never put this in my car

Le goutte à goutte sous le moteur est devenu de plus en plus lent puis s’est arrêté au bout de 15 20 minutes j’ai économiser six cents euros pour le changement d’un joint de culasse j’ai déjà roulé 700 km depuis et aucun problème

Als Kraftfahrzeugmechatroniker bin ich von solchen Zusätzen eigentlich gar nicht begeistert... Ein Kühl- & Heizsystem sollte schlichtweg einfach nach Herstellervorgabe (Fahrzeughersteller) gefüllt sein um allen Anforderungen über lange Zeit gerecht zu werden. Nun gibt es aber einfach auch Schäden im Kühlkreislauf, die eine Reparatur unwirtschaftlich machen. In meinem Fall war das ein Riss eines Kühlkanals im Zylinderkopf. Optisch nur ein Haarriss zur Kerzenbohrung, in warmen Zustand aber die Austrittsöffnung von unglaublich viel Kühlwasser. Fahren also unmöglich, da innerhalb weniger Minuten die Kerzenbohrung voll mit Kühlwasser stand. Für mich der der letzte Ausweg: Ein Dichtmittel für den Kühlkreislauf. Ich weiß nicht mal mehr wieso ich auf dieses Produkt gekommen bin. Den üblichen Alternativen aus dem Baumarkt habe ich wohl keinen großen Erfolg zu gesprochen. Ich habe mich an die Vorgabe des Produkts gehalten und es in einem sauberen, frisch gefüllten Kühlsystem verwendet. Das heißt: Altes Kühlmittel vollständig ablassen. Kühlsystem spülen. Kühlsystem nochmal spülen. Und frisch befüllen. Ich bin überzeugt davon, dass das maßgebend für einen erfolgreichen Einsatz ist und späteren Problemen vorbeugt. Womöglich bindet das Mittel in dreckigen Kühlwasser gar nicht oder nur unzureichend. Oder eben an den falschen Stellen. Daher sollte der Hinweis wirklich Ernst genommen werden. Man darf einfach nicht vergessen, dass es sich hier um ein Dichtmittel handelt. Und das wird zwangsläufig auch dazu führen, dass sich Schmutz, Dreck & Abrieb (welcher sich über die Jahre nunmal im Kühlwasser & Kühlkreislauf ansammelt) miteinander verbindet. Beim Einfüllen in den Ausgleichsbehälter wirkt das ganze erst einmal etwas seltsam... trübe Flüssigkeit, fast etwas flockig. Ich habe bei einem Fassungsvermögen von ca. 5-6 Liter Kühlmittel nur die halbe Flasche verwendet. Ich wollte mich ran tasten. Motor Warmlaufen lassen, Probefahrt und Blick in die Kerzenbohrung des Zylinderkopfs. Jetzt war ich positiv überrascht. Es stand nur noch minimal Kühlwasser in der Bohrung. Für mich ein gutes Zeichen. Wäre der Riss sofort verschlossen gewesen, hätte es nicht lange gedauert und das Kühlsystem hätte sich auch an anderer Stelle zugesetzt. Also die Kerzenbohrung erneut vom ausgetretenen Kühlmittel befreit und Fahrzeug für 1 Tag stehen lassen. Dann erneut eine Probefahrt. Ergebnis: Absolut dicht. Damit habe ich nicht gerechnet. Ich kann natürlich nun kein Langzeitbericht liefern. Und ob das Mittel tatsächlich für den längeren Einsatz gedacht ist, weiß ich auch nicht. In meinem Fall bleibt das ganze nun schon viele hundert Kilometer dicht und macht nicht den Anschein, als ob sich das ändern wird. Das Fahrzeugleben wurde damit also erst einmal verlängert... Wie lange wird sich zeigen, aber als letzte Lösung hat mich das Mittel bereits jetzt voll überzeugt. Ich denke man muss sich im klaren sein, dass eine bezahlbare Reparatur diesem Mittel immer vorzuziehen ist. Einen undichten Kühler damit abzudichten, obwohl man die Möglichkeit hat für überschaubares Geld einen neuen einzubauen, wäre meiner Ansicht nach völliger Unfug. Aber für Fahrzeuge mit Schäden, welche sich einfach nicht mehr wirtschaftlich reparieren lassen, stellt dieses Mittel tatsächlich eine gute Option dar! Vorteil ist, dass das Dichtmittel im Kühlkreislauf verbleiben kann. Der Hersteller bietet auch noch eine nächste Stufe an, bei der das Kühlmittel nach dem Einfüllen und Warmlaufen lassen wieder ersetzt werden muss. Womöglich kann man damit noch größere Schäden "flicken", gut möglich. Fazit: Wer an einem ähnlichen Punkt wie ich stand, sollte dem Dichtmittel definitiv eine Chance geben.

Ein co2 test (siehe Bilder) ergab bei meinem citroen eine defekte Zylinderkopfdichtung. Auf der Suche nach einer schnellen und günstigen Lösung stieß ich auf dieses Mittel. Und ich wurde positiv überrascht! Der anschließende c02 test ergab wieder eine gesunde Zylinderkopfdichtung auch die Kompression und Leistung wurde dadurch hergestellt! Nein das ist keine bezahlte Werbung-ich würde es jederzeit wieder verwenden!!! Gruß Mario
