These work really well, but I’ve found they work even better if you break apart or fluff up the ends a little bit before lighting them. Doing that seems to help them catch much faster and get the fire going nicely. I especially like these when we’re planning to cook over the fire. I’d much rather use a simple fire starter like this than something involving lighter fluid when food is eventually going over those flames. There is zero foul odor. You get a ton in the box, they’re easy to use, and with that little trick of pulling the ends apart first, they’ve been very reliable. Definitely recommend!

Makes starting fire for grill a lot quicker

It functions as expected. The 130 pieces is an okay value per the price at the time of purchase. For me, as they, the OEM packaged it makes it easy to store where I need it and use as needed - to supplement other I use with it. It will functionally adequately start a fire by itself - pending your skills to have anything to light more readily. One could easily "scrape" a softwood shaving bundle like this. However this is a wax coated item, likely dipped - which keeps it functionally dry, and is "more" flammable or persistent to burn once lite. All in all, since I advocate having more than one way to start a fire, I can say - get a box if only for that reason. I'll add, for me, or for an "impatient" fire requirement, this with two "fatwood" sticks should get nearly anything "going" regardless of what it is. - In regard to the fatwood, a "tip"?, since not easily broken up, to have a larger sized cutting plier, side cutter, snips to more efficiently engage that snipped into smaller, more consolidated pieces - with this product - with matches it could not be easier; with those metal shavings, spark devices if know how to use that - also good. I hope that assists anyone in making a decision here, or plans for use. It comes down to function and price for me - so, I'm satisfied this purchase, impressed even.
