I wanted something quiet, highly portable and compact that I could take with me when away in our caravan, and that I could play later at night or early morning at home. At first I was attracted to the Bluetooth drumsticks option as it looked so simple. But they were very poor (see my review of AeroBands). The camera/light/computer requirements of AeroDrums initially put me off, but after watching many excellent user videos, I gave them a go. And they are amazing!! It took me a few sessions to get used to the technique and drum positioning, and I still have a way to go with them, but they are great fun to play. The samples are high quality, and the user interface is fairly intuitive. There’s a User Forum with loads of advice, which is reassuring given there are many other happy AeroDrummers out there. So don’t be put off, they really work! Review: It's bad - I really wanted to like this Aerodrum kit as the idea is fantastic, and I regularly produce music at home. However, my experience was frustrating and disappointing, it's a great idea, but the execution of this product is quite poor. Drivers and software were difficult to get working on Windows 11. The software itself looks unfinished, and has bad design with menus and problems with graphic settings, so doesn't work properly out of the box. The actual drumming experience was frustrating with impossible to reach snare drums and mis-hits all the time, so not playable. Space wise you actually need more room than a regular drum kit or electronic drum kit. This is because the camera has to be around 1.8m awa from you. Also my camera also seemed to be out of focus all the time, even when moving back and forth to adjust focal length. Lastly, the quality of the kit is like a toy and the camera in this kit is actually from a Playstation 3. Thanks** A: I run it on Win7 and that runs fine. XP should not be a problem. PS3 would surprise me as the software wasn't written for that platform, even though it does use its camera. **Q: What is the difference between this drum kit (£135.00) and second available drum kit in amazon (£164.63)** A: They should be the same kit. The more expensive kit may not even come with a camera so I would go with the bundle. Considering you can buy a real physical electronic drum kit for around £200 which works better and is quicker to setup, the Aerodrums for £150 are definitely not worth it and a gimmick. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Real Deal (with some minor niggles) *by M***D on 10 July 2014* I've not been able to spend a long time playing with these, but first impressions are very good. For the price the sensitivity, amount of potential triggers and respose outweighs drum controllers of 5 times the price. Excellent value for money. Very easy to plug and play and built in drum samples are brilliant, most noteable is the range of expression with the Hi Hat pedal and the fact that the ride also has a bell in the default set up. A couple of issues are: 1 - Light sensitive. It just flat out won't work if (like me) you're restricted to having your music set up in a light room (conservatory), in the summer. It has worked great when I've used it around dusk and I'm sure will be fine in a proper room. 2 - Connecting to MIDI. Can be done and isn't that hard, however does take a bit of tweaking and time to work it out if you're not used to using external MIDI. The main use I want is to use it to trigger Superior Drummer. Took some figuring out even though it's simple due to a bit of a lack of troubleshooting on webiste. Appears to work well once it's sorted, however I've not had time to get deep into it. 3 - Build quality. When I took it out of the box, it does look like something that was put together in someone's garage. In particular the whit light ring that sits around the camera dropped and broke from the securing ring almost instantly. Easily fixed with glue, but still didn't sit very well with me. When considered against the very low price it's not a deal breaker, however if you're on a very tight budget £100 may seem a lot for what you physically receive. Ultimately, however the whole package is more than worth £100. Overall a groundbreaking bit of kit that will open up more expressive drums for the user who is tight on space and cash. A few operating niggles with MIDI and restrictions regarding lighting, but in anyones case worth the money in my opininon.
