Cons: none really. Summary: I went looking for something like this after reading up on all the health benefits both proven and suggested. I was a bit worries they might be musty smelling/tasting after some bad run ins with similar products. It wasn't an issue at all. The bag is a solid thick material and the resealable seal works well every time. I tried them freshly ground in my coffee and I LOVE it. It adds a nutiness like pecan or real hazlenut that I find incredibly satisfying. I find I need vastly less sugar in my coffee. Like down from a tablespoon to maybe half a teaspon these days. Add a little heavy cream or butter for an even richer treat! Oh my! I will say that the first week or so, it did "get things moving" a bit more than usual, but that passed pretty quick... pun accepted if not intended :D One thing I will say, if you don't know it already, flax seed goes rancid pretty fast once ground so only grind what you need and throw away left over ground up seed if you're not going to freeze it immediately after use. I just toss a couple teaspoons in a spare electric coffee grinder I had in the back of the cabinet and spoon it out throughout the morning into my coffee. When you grind it, be aware that flaxseed is really and truly loaded with lots of oils so it will kind of "harden" a bit on the bottom from the powder and the oils mixing. That's normal. It honestly suprised me how easy it is to stire in to coffee. Works great **Q: why are people saying this flaxseed is fine like a powder when it says whole flax and pic shows whole flax?which is it?** A: It’s not ground. It’s whole flaxseeds. If purchased ground it wouldn’t be as effective as it should only be ground when you need it. Omega 3s are extremely light and heat sensitive. **Q: Are they ground or whole flax seeds? The description and photo of the package says whole but the comment section people are saying its ground** A: Get Flax seed meal. This is whole seeds. In this case there's nothing wrong with the flaxseed. It's the bag it comes in. The inside of the bad is lined with a chemical call cadmium. Cadmium preserves the freshness of the seeds. While digesting this chemical isn't good for anyone. Its not harmful to most people but cadmium can cause birth defects in pregnant women. I sprinkle them onto toast ad butter, they are slightly crunchy and really improve the taste of my breakfast.
