Yes it works fine on ps4 had mine since 2019 no issues at all

Do i need different cables for usb 3 or usb 2?

The cable that comes with it is a "USB-B micro", which is rarely used to a "standard old" USB-A connector. I am totally disappointed because neither end plugs into a MacBook Air which only has USB-C connector. Yes, you will need to go to settings in the PS4 under usb devices and reformat the drive to the PS4 and it will work.

Can I plug this into my xbox one and store games on it?

Must be formatted to run as a system drive when you plug it in, i use mine for my ps4
