Meaco DD8L De-Humidifer - Great Product!!
The delivery of this product ordered direct from Meaco, was fast and very efficient. It was well packaged, and very simple to set up and use. Just basically plug in and go. We decided to purchase this product based on the fact that family members had owned for several years a Meaco de-humidifer which worked great. We have recently moved to a bungalow, which is incredibly well insulated and has been suffering a lot from condensation on the inside of the windows, especially on these cold mornings we are having. Our bedroom is the worst, first thing in the morning when we get up the window is soaked. I know opening windows is an option, but not such a good one when it's freezing outside. We decided to invest in a de-humidifer, but which one?, there is so many on the market. We knew Meaco was a good make, and initially purchased a normal compressor dehumidifer made by Meaco, it worked perfectly but seemed to make the room cold. We thought that it would make the room warmer, but all it did was blow the air around making a draft. It definitely removed the moisture from the air, but we wanted one that warmed the air too. We did a bit of digging and found we should have bought a 'Desiccant' model, not a Compressor. the desiccant model warms the air as well as removing the moisture. They are slightly more expensive but are so much better in my opinion. We contacted Meaco direct through their contact details on the Amazon page and we explained our predicament and asked if we could swap the unit for the model above which is a desiccant de-humidifer. The chap said yes no problem, "you must re-package the one you have now in all its original packaging and box". He said the Delivery driver would bring our new De-humidifer and take the one we have now away at the same time, so basically a swap, we just paid the difference in price between the cost of the two units. True to his word the driver came 2 days later and brought us the DD8L Meaco model......it was fantastic service from Meaco, especially considering it was our mistake in the first place buying the wrong one. The DD8L is a great little machine, and it does exactly what it says it does, and it warms the air too - fantastic. There is not a day that goes by in autumn and winter when we haven't used it. We no longer have any condensation issues, unless I have been cooking and forgotten to switch it on. We keep it in the kitchen most of the time, and I flick it on when I am cooking, especially pasta, potatoes etc which causes a lot of steam, and our hob extractor is not the greatest. When we first purchased the machine we had it running most of the day, just until it removed the moisture problem that we had, however now we find it's only necessary to switch it on once a day for a while. The cost of running the unit is negligible really, especially as it acts like a little heater too. It's not instant heat, but after a while it definitely takes the chill off on a cold morning or afternoon. The other great feature of the DD8L is the clothes drying option. We don't have a tumble drier we find the Meaco works great, we put the clothes on an airer, and set the unit going in the smallest room we have. It takes it a while but it definitely dries your clothes no problem. It has two other settings too, and it automatically cuts off when the humidity level is reached, so it will not keep running and running. The water holding tank is a good size, plus you have the option, and the pipe to attach, to allow it to run into a drain if you need that option. We have loaned it out to family members after they have had a water leak, and I have to say I missed my little Meaco when it was away. After a few days our condensation was back, and I was desperately in need of its return. A great product that I wouldn't be without, we should have bought one years ago. As for the company Meaco, they are spot on and I would definitely recommend both them and this product.

Quality product does the job!
Very happy with this product, used over winter. Surprised how much water it actually drew out of the air. Easy to empty water container: switches off when full, with flashing light alarm: no need for an audible alarm as you know its full when it stops working. Give off a level of heat, too, as it successfully dries the air. Worth the cost of purchase; seek round for deals. very happy with purchase, did the job as promised, and contributed to room warmth: a damp room makes it feel cooler than it really is.

This is an excellent bit of kit and works very well
I am able to review this well in that this one from amazon is the second one I own, the first one bought elsewhere but used a lot with no issues. So right out of the box its very easy to use. It has a simple button and light display. I own this current model and the Junior either work the same.. So The first I use 24/7 in a 14ft by 7ft trailer where I store a motorbike and lots of my kity. It was soaking before i used this. I was reluctant to put on all the time but invested in an ace litle product from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BHPS45S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This tells me what the temp and humidity is all the time by phone app so i knew how efficiently the Meaco was working. I could see that the dehumidifier turns itself off all the times and keeps it nice and dry. The second one is for a much much larger workshop and it has taken a while to get it dry but now again no issues. I have rigged that up so i have a 5 gallon water container to drain it into via a small tube. They are quiet and very good. NOTE... If you need to permenantly drain you will need to but tube or have some.. also keep the filters clean. Otherwise its great. Does have a 2 - 8 hr in built timer. If you do not want to rum 24 - 7 then note that you are not supposed to run these on a timer as the machine needs a cool down period. If this is the case buy the zambese version

Expensive To Run But Very Effective
Having never owned a dehumidifier I wasn't really sure what to expect with this. If you believe the marketing videos on Youtube you'd think this was an extremely quiet, dirt cheap to run bit of kit that was going to dry out your whole house. The reality is a little different, not a whole lot but a little. I started of having this in the hall and running it on medium power it was on for 8 days straight before it began to cycle on and off - target humidity of 50% was reached. We have a bog standard 90's built 3 bed semi by the way. Using a weather station I could monitor the humidity in different rooms and found the average downstairs to be about 53%, upstairs was around 55%. The hallway was 50%. I'd hate to think what the figures were before we had this running 8 days non stop. After a couple of weeks it became pretty clear that there was an issue because rather than cycling on and off it seemed to still be running the majority of the day without the humidity in the rest of the house dropping, I came to the conclusion that having this so close to the front door wasn't a great idea and we were probably drying half the street. It was moved to the landing upstairs. On the landing it operates much more how I would expect, running for a few hours each day in order to keep the humidity in all the bedrooms/bathroom to about 50-51%. Downstairs the figure hovers around 54-55% so not bad but the Meaco isn't reducing humidity in the whole house down to its set level. This isn't a big house and I'm careful to leave the doors open during the day for airflow. The other thing is that if you try running it in the lowest fan setting eco mode then it's a waste of time. At that setting ours will run 20+ hours a day. On the standard setting the unit is too noisy to have in the same room as you, at night when trying to sleep it is a noticeable hum but you will get used to it. The final thing is the cost. I don't know how this compares to other dehumidifiers but where we live we pay about 15.7 pence per unit for electricity. Now this has bedded down and is running as expected it has added about an extra 50p a day on to our electricity bill, or about £45 a quarter (according to our Owl energy monitor). I haven't had the bill yet from when we first bought it but including the initial running in period and then the few weeks where we were drying the street I'm expecting it be a bit of a record breaker. Overall then despite a bit of whinging about it not being what I would call cheap, nor the fact that it is capable of reducing the humidity in our whole house down to its target level I still think this has been a very good buy. The humidity level in the house is much reduced, we no longer get any condensation on any windows and generally the house has felt much warmer.

Thank you.xx
This is really good, I use it with an mini automatic simp pump (I bought on Amazon for £44.99 or so) and an hose and put to the sink. The dehumidifier is really good, the only noise is the fan but I use it with and 500w mini heater in my hallway and they kind of work together, when the moisture levels are higher at night the dehumidifier warms it up and during the day the heater turns on when there's less as the dehumidifier doesn't need to work as much then. In regards to cost to run it doesn't run constantly so yes it has an higher power unit built in but it isn't on 24 hours a day. I'm using it on normal and 50% humidity options and it is working brilliantly. I have autism and I don't hear it on the Hallway. I have my living room door closed and I can still feel the benefits from it being in the hallway as the air changes as you open and close and the air circulates. You don't need all doors open just enjoy using it. I used a condenser 20l one before and the air feels much more weirdly softer. Like less dense.. I genuinely am really happy and I am intending to buy another for the opposite side of the property to make it a complete balance. It's definitely worth buying.xx

A Breath Of Fresh Air - The Perfect Unit For Boat Use
I don't write too many reviews. I only bother when I feel an item is really good (or bad!) I am happy to say that he Meaco DD8L definitely falls into the former catergory. My wife and I own a small 25 foot cabin cruiser and spend a LOT of time on board (much to the chargrin of the marina owner who keeps dropping unsubtle hints that we really ought to go home at some point!). This year the horrendous weather conditions have helped to create a rather unpleasant situation aboard, namely condensation. We have found that after several days of continuous occupation, the interior cabin's soft furnishings felt damp, cold and clammy and that black mould was starting to form on the hard surfaces of the walls, windows etc. The boat had also started to smell decidedly musty due to to the fact that the endless days of driving rain have prevented us from opening the windows and letting the breeze blow through. After speaking to a couple of old timers who informed us that condensation was the probable cause of our woes due to the amount of time we were spending on board, I did some research and decided to take the plunge and buy the DD8L. It has been in operation for only 48 hours but the difference is already astounding. When the box arrived about 48 hours after purchase, I opened it to find a neat, smallish unit that looked well constructed. As I had read the reviews on Amazon prior to purchase, I was not expecting a set of instructions to be included, and knew that they were available online for download should I need them. I didn't - the control panel is so simple and self-explanatory that my 6 year old could work it out. I took the unit straight round to the boat, plugged it in and switched it on. I had a couple of jobs to do and so pottered about for half an hour. Before I left, I checked the tank and was amazed to see that a fair bit of water had already been collected. 24 hours later, we arrived at the boat and I eagerly opened up to see how much water was in the tank. The first thing I noticed on entering was how much fresher the air smelt in the cabin. After feeling the curtains, bedding and cushions I found that the horrible clamminess was gone and everything felt dry. I saw that the water tank was full and the unit had turned itself off. After emptying the tank, it switched back on and away it went again. As we were spending the night on board, I monitored the dehumidifier throughout the evening. It ran for approximately an hour before clicking into standby, periodically coming back on for about 15 minutes before going back into standby. Later I cooked a meal and made a couple of cuppas, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the unit seemed to be extracting the steam from the cooking and kettle as it was being generated. The boat windows stayed condensation free and the hard surfaces stayed dry. We got into bed whilst the unit was in standby. Unfortunately it woke us up during the night when it clicked on, but this was due to the fan being on the highest setting. I turned it down to the lowest, and we had no trouble dropping back off to sleep whilst it was running in this mode. In the morning I was once again amazed when I saw that all the boat windows which would usually be running with water were bone dry, despite the fact that they are single glazed and the outside temperature had gone down to only 2 degrees during the night. My wife and I both agreed that despite being woken up by the unit, we both felt more rested than usual due to the freshness of the air in the cabin. I don't know whether the ioniser feature is responsible for this, or if it is just due to the fact that the dehumidifier itself has purified the air, but whichever it is, it is very welcome. I have found only one small negative. When I moved the unit whilst it was running, the rotating element seemed to catch on the casing causing a rattling noise. I found that if I tilted the unit forwards and then replaced it back on its feet the rattling stopped again. I probably should have turned it off before I moved it, so I'm not knocking any points off for this. I am extremely pleased with the Meaco DD8L. It's not the cheapest dehumidifier on the market, but for boat use I think it is absolutely perfect, and the performance so far has been nothing short of staggering. I am planning to leave it running over the winter with the supplied hose in place so that the unit can drain continuously, I will update this review once the results are in. 5 very well deserved stars for this one!

Happy shedhead
Wow, bought this for my shed which I had to completely gut due to a mould issue. I have now insulated it and covered it with ply but I was still getting humidity levels of 70% plus. After all the hard work I previously done in my shed which also stores my motorbike, tools, metal posters along with photos and beer mats I certainly didn't want the same issue (the shed now is still a work in progress) This has been a real game changer for me. With it's smart adjustable humidity level control which for I set at 40% for 2 days as a running in period the results were instanious and the visible water tank reveals the amount of water it removes. Jeeze, this machine is incredible and after all the gut wrenching feelings of what happened before to my pride and joy shed I'm over the moon. It is now set at 50%. For a shed it's fantastic, obviously I can't make any claims for house use but this is why I bought this one as it's recommended for cold places. Definitely £170 well spent

Condensation sorted!
I never write reviews....but had to for this. I left it a few months to check it still works in the cold weather and wasn't disappointed It worked brilliantly! We have a 3 bed semi detached older property which started to get condensation especially around the bay window, but all upstairs windows. It was leaving us with black mould around windows and the bays ceiling. After trying a ton of things and contemplating getting new windows we bought this. Left it running for a good few days but now only need to turn it on for a couple of hours in the morning or at night ( this is why the timer is brilliant! ) no more condensation even in the proper frost that's just started. No more wiping down all the windows every morning or painting over the black on the bay wall. The house is considerably warmer and the washing dries really quickly if I leave it on the laundry mode in the utility room. Delivery was also really quick. The only negative I can say is the beeping to tell you the water tank is full is quite loud so we don't keep it on the landing ( just in case it wakes the kids.) It has worked just as well positioned in the hallway, I make sure I leave bedroom doors open during the day. In summary as I said condensation sorted and I strongly recommend this product very pleased with my purchase!
