It is really useful to torque-down the drive and prevent the device from stripping soft screw heads or tearing the sockets in plastic toys etc. Well worth the money and I'm surprised they don't include it with the kit as there's enough space in the tin. We used a stanley knife to cut a space for it in the foam so everything still fits in the tin with the other adaptors. Note this does not increase the torque, but decreases it allowing finer control. Basically it has an internal clutch mechanism which disengages at a set torque which you change by rotating the dial around the barrel of the adaptor.
