A useful guide for starting a new role
I bought this in May just before changing jobs, and it proved to be a good reference guide during those early weeks. It breaks down the transition period clearly, with practical strategies on how to get up to speed, build relationships and avoid the usual pitfalls. What I liked most is how it gives structure to something that often feels overwhelming. Having a framework to follow made the change feel more manageable, and I found myself dipping back into it regularly rather than just reading it once. Itโs not a magic formula, but as a resource to keep you focused and intentional in a new role, it definitely delivers. Worth a read if youโre moving into a new position or stepping up into more responsibility.

Interesting, thorough and practical
Interesting, thorough and practical book about how to thrive in your first 90 days as a leader, whether youโre joining a new organisation or have been promoted from within. Gave me some good food for thought as well as practical exercises to do and actions to take in relation to my own situation. Likely to be one of those books youโll need to refer to again for your next transition.

Excellent book, full of valuable insights with a very structured approach.
After the first read I can safely say it's hard to find a better book than this one to be successful in your new role. It covers a large spectrum of essential topics , keeping a very understandable, structured approach to understand what it takes to be best in class in your new role, in efficient manner. All resources are provided to put in application immediately what is originally developed in the book. It is so rich in providing solid methodology that keeping it with you all the time is not an option, it's a requirement, a duty. An absolute must-have!

Great for senior leaders/managers - not as useful for operational roles.
I was recommended this book as I was starting my new role. While a useful book to get you thinking about your first 90 days in a new role the book wasn't quite what I expected. Most of the advice is based on the assumption of you taking a senior leadership role with a clear remit for implementing change. This doesn't help you when you're starting a new role where you do not have much decision making power at a strategic level. The anecdotes presented are effective and help you understand the principles. I'm sure I will revisit this later in my career but I feel like the title would be more appropriate as 'The First 90 Days of a new Leader'

Food for thought,
Clearly written, even for those who do not read 'management studies', well reasoned, and in many places is well aware of the realities that face any Manager. Provides thoughtful and clear advice on how to plan an effective 'on boarding'. I also believe, and I am sure the author expects that executive level readers should clearly possess the ability to adapt the procedures , policies, plans and advice given to their own circumstances. However, I would also echo other reviewers, despite making some clear allowance for realities, this book is best suited to chief excecutives, rather than those limited to what they can change at middle management in 'legacy ridden' companies. Food for thought, but not quite the 'holy grail', its apparent belief that it is only detracts from its effectiveness.

Excellent, practical guide for career transitions
The First 90 Days is an excellent and highly practical book. I found it particularly useful while I was in job search, because it helped me think clearly about how I would approach a new role before I had even started. The frameworks are practical, structured and easy to apply, and I used the book to create several compelling 90-day plans. It is especially valuable for leaders moving into a new organisation, a new level of responsibility, or a role where early credibility matters. This is not just a book about onboarding; it is a guide to building momentum, understanding the business, setting priorities and creating early impact. Highly recommended.

Great read
I was recommended this book during a job interview and itโs been insightful as I go into my first 90 days of a new job. I have had a handful of transitions mostly within my career field but this book has given me new ways of viewing and managing the first 90 days of a new or existing job transition.

Great guide
This book is a great guide for people who are starting a new job of switching roles in the same company. The chapters are well structured. There are no templates and this is appreciated as it boosts creativity and critical thinking. Definitely helped in building an effective 90-day plan.
