What an improvement over the original mesh draft screen door!!!! Used on my 8 year old Big Green Egg. Very easy to install, it slides great and provides proper ventilation to grill. If I knew about this before my mesh broke, I probably would have bought it. Built to last. Super product!

Quality is great. However, I purchased for an older egg that I’m fixing up (somewhere around 2008-2012; you can also tell if you have an older egg if the top of the ceramic fire ring has 5 smaller dimples instead of the 3 larger notches on current eggs), and the bolt holes on the left side are too far apart by about a quarter inch. I decided to cut the hole bigger with some metal shears (it’s thick metal, so took a little effort) instead of returning. Fortunately, the included washers are plenty big to cover up the expanded hole. You can’t even tell once it’s installed.Update: KAMaster reached out to me about the hole spacing and has been incredibly helpful. I’ve done two cooks on the egg after replacing the draft door (I sealed the door with high temp silicon as well) and it’s working perfectly.

The Large (L) size steel punch mesh panel door fits on my Kamado Joe Classic II 2. I was able to install it on the OEM draft door and it fits with the original door to provide a nice upgrade.The full L draft door appears that it would on the KJ Classic II as well. I ordered it thinking I may need to replace the whole thing to get the functionality but ended up not needing to since the mesh door by itself fit the OEM hardware. Great upgrade!

I love my BGE but the screen is really a weak point for the grill. Perhaps in the new versions they don't use a screen door like wire mesh. I was happy to see someone engineered a better bullet proof solution.

Great product. Better than the original. Only issue is that you need to figure out what to use as a sealant to reduce the draft around the edge as it’s not that snug. The original had silicone. You need to buy some high temperature silicone to be safe. They should mention that in the instructions when you buy the product so you are prepared when you get it.

My original vent lasted just over 3 years and I was disappointed by how quickly it deteriorated. When I found this punched mesh replacement I was pleasantly surprised. The fit and finish is great, and it looks more robust than the original equipment.The installation was more involved than you would believe after reading the answers given on this site. My Big Green Egg is sitting in a "Nest" stand, which has steel bands holding the egg on either side of the vent, and they block the vent from sliding to the side. There is also a tab that stops the vent from sliding out to the left. I removed the phillips screw holding the steel band on the left side of the vent and pulled it back away from the egg far enough to allow the vent to slide out to the left, after bending the tab stop down enough to allow the vent to slide out. Then I was able to slide the new vent in to the right and restore the tab to its original position, and then fasten the steel band back down. The complete job took no more than 5 minutes.

I do a lot of smoking on my big green egg using electronic controls. This means sliding a fan unit into the grill to control temperatures. The original BGE screen cover was wearing out after a year without using the fan.Safety: I should have brought this a long time ago. My original BGE screen was pretty beat up. Even though the grill is on a concrete slap, ambers still escaped the BGE during cooking. This expense is so low, I was being foolish for not replacing it.KAMaster unit is perforated material vs a screen insert. The unit hasn't impacted my cooking results. I get sustained the same high temps of over 600 F and don't burn thru more coal at when low temp smoking.I've very hopeful the KAMaster cover will last; the thickness of the material is good and it doesn't not impede sliding a fan unit into the BGE. It's also a fraction of the cost of the BGE cover (over $50) so even it is last the same time, it will save you a lot of money.The install was really easy. At first I thought I had to remove the screws to get it installed but the metal was flexible enough it slide it past the stop. I didn't have another set of hands to get it off the nest so it was a risk trade off - break <$20 cover or >$1200 Egg. Best option it is remove the screws but I got away with it.

The original part is bound to fail over time as the fine mesh will succumb to the heat. This perforated design resolves this entirely. It is well made and fits perfectly in less than a minute. Recommended.

Fit my medium BGE just fine.
