Yes, you can remove the middle section to divide the closet into 2 separate sections. **Q: Is it possible to make the mid section wider or add drawers?** A: I bought two and connected them minus one side of the hanging rack I have separated. We needed plenty of space to hang garments which this provided along with additional shelf storage. The unit was very easy to install with 2 people. It can definitely be done with just 1 person but definitely faster and smoother with an additional hand. The unit is sturdy once fully put together and much more so once you have all your clothes on it. Highly recommend.We did have one minor mishap upon delivery. One of the shelves was cracked in the package. I contacted support via email and they were very prompt to reply. I worked with Jane through the entire process and she was excellent and communicated every step of the free replacement process. She even followed up after delivery to make sure we got the new shelf and all was well.
