Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous
Purple haze: Gorgeous purple color. It is vibrant and has remained bright and unfaded through 6 washes so far. We applied it to dry hair and left in for 45 minutes, then rinsed it out with cool water. MAKE SURE TO RINSE IT AWAY FROM YOUR SKIN! We flipped her hair over and rinsed it in the sink because it WILL stain your skin. Good thing to note though, if you do stain your skin, alcohol or nail polish remover takes it right off. I used both with my other child to get Manic Panic off her skin (a disaster since she just rinsed under the showerhead like a normal shower... aaand she was pink all down her face/neck/ears/chest) Anyway, both products worked to remove the stains and return her skin to normal although the alcohol smelled less offensive than the nail polish remover. Used alcohol on a cotton ball to remove excess purple from the second attempt just around the hairline and ears where it had dabbed a little.

Lasts a really long time!
So I need to preface that I’ve been doing my own hair at home for a while. I went from a faded purple that I then stripped, then applied this color and oh my goodness it’s so vibrant. I dyed my hair July 26th, and today is October 16th for an idea (and I’ve only dyed it once which was in July. It still is SO vibrant. It faded to a magenta color but I still get so many compliments on my hair. Some things to keep in mind: - it will stain. If you get it in your tub, let some spray bleach sit on it, it will take it out. If you stain your skin, it can wash out after a few attempts or you can use rubbing alcohol. - even now my hair still bleeds when washing it after dying it 3 months ago, so just keep that in mind. - you’ll have a more vibrant effect if you have a lighter base and it will stick a million times better on pre-lightened hair. It won’t stick to virgin hair well. Your hair doesn’t have to be blonde in order to get a vibrant result but the lighter it is, the better the result will be. (Don’t melt your hair trying to achieve my color, I’ve done a number on it within the last year and I’ve been using bonding treatments to get my hair to where it is) Overall, I absolutely am wowed by how long this color has lasted. It truly is a beautiful color and prior to this, I had arctic fox dye on my hair and it washed out after 5-6 washes. I also don’t wash my hair every day. I’ll wash it twice a week so that will help with the life of your hair color but even so, I’ve never had a dye last this long especially a semi permanent. If you’re looking for a fun color, I highly recommend manic panic. Just PLEASE prepare for staining. Any fashion color is bound to stain. Make sure you’re able to either a. Deal with it until it fades off your skin or b. Take precautions before and/or after applying the dye.

Pretty but short lasting
Very pretty but not as long lasting as I wanted. Manic panic doesn’t last long in darker hair colors. Very vibrant red even on dark hair though which is very cool.

Very Deep Color, but stains skin
My hair is naturally dark brown. This was the third product I tried adding some red to my hair. The first I tried was overtone red for brown hair. It worked well, but the color was just a hint of red due to being applied to my naturally dark brown hair. 3 weeks later I tried Lux Red from Sally Beauty. It made it a little more red than before, my hair looked more of an maroon / red. Lots of compliments. Then 3 weeks later I finally tried the manic panic pillarbox red. I was able to get complete coverage with just 1 jar. I put my hair in a plastic bag to really let it set in. The directions say to let it set in for at least 30 minutes. I went for 4 hours before washing my hair out. My hair looks to be a dark magenta now. The color looks great, but the product did stain my scalp more than the other two products I tried. Took 5 days for my skin to look normal again. Keep in mind I just applied it like an overtone, and did not do any pre bleaching to lighten my hair before applying the product. If you are using this product on brown hair, its going to look more like a dark magenta when you get done. It mostly depends on the lighting. In dark lighting my hair looks dark brown with a hint or red. In Bright lighting, outdoors or studio lights the color really comes to life. Looks like a darkish magenta with bright lights. Adding red to my hair was a great decision, wish I would have done it years ago. For some reason I seem more approachable now, people seem more comfortable around me. Before when I just had dark brown hair I guess had more of that rested bitch look. Now I look less intimidating, and its working better for me in social situations.

Quality, Lasting Dye
I'm honestly shocked at the reviews that said this didn't stick in their hair. It stuck, and I mean stuck, to mine much longer than I anticipated. I had dark brown hair with sort of a blonde balayage/highlights thing going on. I left the dye in for 45 minutes, 15 minutes longer than the recommended time - I did this because I wanted it to stick to my dark hair. When I washed it out and dried my hair, I could see the purple but it wasn't terribly noticeable. I actually really liked it because my dark brown looked almost black, and the blonde was a dark purple and I loved the combination. It also smelled really nice after the first wash, which I wasn't used to for unnatural hair dyes. It didn't rub off too much on my clothes that first night, and the dye was pretty easy to get off my skin. Fast forward to the next day and back to my normal shower routine. This stuff bleeds and stains and makes a mess. I have purple splatter stains all over my tub and wall. But that's the price you pay for unnatural hair color! After this wash, the dye does as promised and gets a little lighter. I kind of wished I dyed my hair a few days earlier because THIS color was the purple I was looking for. It was more vibrant and stood out more since it was a bit lighter. Fast forward a few more washes - I was expecting this stuff to be gone within 1.5 weeks with some hot water/heavy shampooing routines. That did not happen. The dye transformed with each wash and I've been pleasantly surprised with the colors. I'm almost two weeks in now and it's still a vibrant purple with some strands a little lighter, and some almost magenta. It's like a purple rainbow of colors, something I couldn't get if I tried. It's no longer staining my tub, that ended after about 2-3 days. It's not rubbing on my skin or clothes either. I was expecting this stuff to fade fast due to some reviews, the fact that my hair wasn't bleach blonde, and also due to the unnatural color. This stuff stuck better than some professional dye jobs. I am for sure using this brand again for fun colors.

Horrific Product.
Let me start off by saying I have been dying my hair at home for 12 years. I always heard of Manic Panic but never tried it. Well I have been a redhead 1.5 years now so I decided to try it. I've watched plenty of Brad Mondo videos. But nothing could prepare me for this experience. This was by far, one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. I would have to honestly say that in my entire adult lifetime I only made one more mistake more drastic - my ex boyfriend of 8 years. I applied the dye, everything was fine. Used lotion around the hair line. I had gloves on. I was actually impressed that 1/2 the container covered my shoulder length hair pretty well. I went to go shower; to rinse it out after 30 minutes. I used cool water. That was when everything turned pink. Highlighter pink. My hands, the shower stalls, my legs, my feet, my face. I thought "ok I'll quickly spray off the shower using the shower head".... Then to my horror- I saw that it was not rinsing off. I started scrubbing my skin. Nothing is coming off. It was as bright pink as Willy Wonka going through all those psychedelic colors. I jumped out of the shower. Put my hair in my black towel. Grabbed the scrubbing bubbles under the sink and frantically sprayed the shower stall. Then I applied lotion by the handfuls all over my body. Then I started scrubbing the shower. I looked at myself naked, covered in lotion, pink as a flamingo, and called for my husband to witness my mess so someone else could verify what was happening and to ensure me this was not a dream. He brought me a magic eraser. I scrubbed and scrubbed the shower and myself repeatedly for the next hour. I did get rid of the pink hue except faintly on the shower pan which is currently soaking in bleach as I write this review. My skin is still pink. I need to figure out how I will shower in the future - because hygiene is important- but the thought of my hair leaking more dye terrifies me. I have no idea how Manic Panic is still in business - surely people need to be suing them for damages to their bathrooms by the thousands. This product should not be legal. Do not buy it. It is evil. It is the devil incarnate. Please learn from my mistake. The only way this product may work is with a friend's help and a garden hose outside. But then again I don't know why you would want to go through that since there is far superior products on the market.

Inconsistent quality
The first time I got this hair color from Amazon it was amazing!! Super creamy and went on thorough and easy. It lasted a long time and gave me vibrant color. I told everyone that complimented my hair what the brand was and recommended it. The second time I got the same color, but it was the consistency of the slime that kids play with and it was dull and didn't last hardly at all. I don't know if it was an old batch or what. I was very disappointed. If this was the way it was the first time I would have gotten something else the second time. Because it was so good the first time, I am willing to give it another chance... I hope it works out. Otherwise I won't be getting it again. Sad.

Great Product!
Great quality hair dye! Came out beautifully in my hair. Love the color as it is a vibrant purple, not too dark or light in color. Manic Panic is my go to hair dye, as they have a beautiful range of colors and it is cruelty free and I believe also vegan ..
