However, as they begin to move on and enjoy the next stages of their relationship, it becomes clear that the rest of their family aren't as content with their own lives.Series 3: This series sees Celia and Alan's marriage tested by revelations about an incident in his past. As his daughter Gillian tries to deal with the dramas of her own complicated love life, Caroline has settled into happy domesticity with pregnant partner Kate. But her life is thrown into turmoil by sudden and tragic events. Review: Excellent series! Great value for money as we could watch it time and again!! - I bought this as a family treat to watch over Christmas. We had watched the series when it was originally on the TV and had loved it. Although having seen it all before, we still loved it just as much as when we first viewed it. In fact I could watch it again now. It's such brilliant writing and acting. The characters are believable and you care about them, even the awful ones you occasionally have some sympathy for - clever writing! Although after a while we kept shouting, Gillian..........NO don't do it!!!! This is the original version. Be careful not to buy the Dutch version with English sub titles, also for sale on desertcart. It has a different picture on the front of the DVD. Review: Fab series - Love this series, saw it when it was first shown on the telly and always looked forward to each and every episode. i bought the dvd series 1, 2 & 3 for my mum to watch as i was sure she'd love it as much as i do. started to watch it again from the first series with mum and i wasn't wrong she thinks it is great, and wants to watch an episode as often as possible. i'm enjoying it second time as much as i did the time i saw it. we've seen the whole of the first series and looking forward to watching series 2 and 3 over the next couple of months. would highly recommend this series, i love all of the actors - they are fab. Great acting, storylines, a good all round show.

Heartwarming and heartbreaking, beautifully written and acted.
By far, the very best British drama I've seen on television for a long time. All the characters are well written, and it leaps from humour to real pathos in just a second. My only sadness is that one of the supporting cast was replaced in Series 3. Hate that, I wish they had just written him into the dialogue, referring to the reason for his absence. The first was wonderful, and the second was....not. But, generally, it's a must-see show.

Absolutelyt brilliant
I loved every minute of it! Such a suberb cast, four of my favourite British actors and Sally Wainwright's genious at work. The characters, the plot and the dialogues are so believable, so funny and sometimes so annoying just as in real life that I was simply bowled over. Even the few less likeable characters manage in the end to raise your empathy. One of the most enjoyable shows I watched recently.

Not perfect, but almost
Sally Wainwright is great, the main cast of this show is great, what could go wrong? Nothing or almost nothing. The main couple, the daughters - all wonderful and their problems and emotions are captured and focused in a sensitive and understandable way. I do, however, understand the negative reactions, since I also dislike many of the other characters, mainly the partners (John, partly Kate and Robbie). I agree it should be focused more on the couple (and the close family), but nevertheless, it still is a wonderful show, and in particular in these modern times, where many groups are supported, and yet old people (and eyerybody gets old, no matter what ethnicity, what preferences, what shape, etc.) are being discriminated and shut out more than ever. So: way to go and please more shows with best-agers, especially when they are (not flawless but yet) so wonderful like Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi.

Spinning a Yarn
I am shocked to think how close I came to missing this altogether. I was vaguely aware of it at the time it was being broadcast, but somehow failed even to watch a single episode. Not that I could have stopped at one episode, had I seen it then. But more recently, I read a review of it and thought it sounded like a story I would enjoy, so I ordered all three series from Amazon. And I HAVE enjoyed it enormously. It's my sort of story, full of really well drawn believable characters, and of course Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid head a very strong cast. It's not just about the fortuitous meeting again after 60 years of old school friends, now both alone after the death of their respective spouses, though that is a big part of the story. But the two families, his and hers, also make their contribution with their own interests, needs and desires. I think the characters are wonderfully well drawn, but what I like most about it is that not only are they all believable, but whilst they are all flawed, because they're human, there isn't one who hasn't an aspect of their personality that the viewer can warm to. I didn't know of Sally Wainwright, the author, but I shall certainly look out for more from her in future. I particularly liked Last Tango also because it was filmed in and around the area in Yorkshire that I knew as a child, because my father's family came from the West Riding. If you like real characters in believable situations, in whom you can feel a real interest, get this series. You'll thoroughly enjoy it.

Compelling and entertaining.
We watched the first episode of this well directed and compelling drama while on holiday. We were so taken with it we bought this boxed set. As soon as it arrived we started to work our way through the series. It was so good we had to restrict ourselves to two episodes at a time to eak out the enjoyment! The characters are diverse and the situations all the more real because they say what most people think but donโt say! Very entertaining.

It is absolutley fantastic. The actors with the story line is so ...
Missed the TV series first time round, Friends raved about it, so having watched only one episode of series two, my wife and I were hooked. We decided to buy the complete series 1.2.3. It is absolutley fantastic. The actors with the story line is so real that you almost feel part of it in reality. What a brilliant story and what superb acting, you could not have chosen any other actors for the parts, they were fantastic. Wish there were further series to come.

If only there were more of these delightful, gentle and heart warming series around today. Last Tango meets everyone's expectations of old love rediscovered, new love found and all the ups and downs of bringing up children, your own and your children's. Our 2 protagonists in their old age, marry and meld their 2 volatile families, each with their own traumas and joys. Having been sweethearts at school they meet again after years have gone by and they are now grandparents each with families who have their own sorrows and ups and downs. Allan (Derek Jacobi) has a daughter, Gillian, who is a widow raising her son on a non productive farm. Celia (Anne Reid) lives with her divorced daughter, Caroline, who is bringing up 2 sons and has her ex still living with them. How the 2 families begin and continue their lives together is sheer magic. You find yourself becoming more and more attached to these all too human people over the course of the 3 seasons, laughing and crying with them and having the same feeling of "what? is it finished?" at the end of each episode. I don't want to give too much away as it will ruin the story lines for you but this is a series so well worth watching and may I say, even purchasing as you will find yourself watching it again and again. I sincerely hope there will be a season 4. And 5, 6, 7 ...!!!
